By giving WP access to the First class check-in and lounge, Qantas is training them to think that they can use the First Class facilities on the aircraft

In part I think that statement might have some merit... platuinums seem to routinely get on-board amenities from a higher class... in economy they get business class wines, business class food, champagne, business class amenity kits, headphones and PJs.

Platinums in business get first class amenity kits (that i know of, and maybe wines as well?).

Perhaps some platinums think they are entitled to all the benefits of a higher class (save for the seat)?

One thing I will note, is that since recently moving my international travel from QF to MAS, my experience of "cabin exclusivity" has never been higher.

MAS close the curtain between the cabins, chase Y/J pax out of the higher class cabin, block Y/J pax from exiting the aircraft, with the curtain closed and an attendant standing guard, until all F/J pax exit... Its like the old QF days...

Alternatively, this is one of my Golden Rules.

"... So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you ..."

Matthew 7.12

He was kinda more famous than we all hope to be (DYKWIAs included).

Although I have no religion this is also the way I try to live.
Though the version by my one time local member sometimes appeals to me-
Do unto others what they would do to you but do it quicker and harder.
Fred Daly former member for Grayndler.

I do feel that a lot of those criticising you do not fly in F.

To the OP, you should have followed the people upstairs, taken down their seat details and description.. then have them shamed publicly. But do take pity because of how disadvantaged (not just financially) they are - and will always continue to be (read between the lines ;) ).

That is a risky move IMO transgressing into vigilante type action.

Not 'fit for purpose'

Many would jump up & down with issues of privacy (refer to Feet on Bulkhead photos).

I'd agree with your 'between the lines' sentiment.

Only some platinums get these benefits as well.

In just under 1.5 years of WP I believe the only benefit of a higher class that I have received is a once-off offer of a set of business class headphones in Y, which I politely refused as I prefer to use my own. I am far too polite to ask for these benefits unless offered, however. Perhaps that is the difference?

I am often disappointed in my fellow Y passengers who use the J toilets on domestic flights -- even when the little curtains between the sections are down -- although it has to be said that the cabin crew only rarely prevent them from doing so.

mrpooky.

While not class related it is a similar issue to the carry on luggage. Until that is enforced people will always push the limits. And reserved paid-for car park spaces in which people park saying they will only be a few minutes.

And they give you slippers in addition to the socks, which are a god-send in my eyes.

I was a little confused by the thread title and the actual situation. On seeing the thread title I expected that J passengers were constantly using F facilities (that it had become 'open slather') but in fact it was one case (in this example). I am not condoning passengers routinely with a sense of entitlement availing themselves of facilities that are not specifically designated for higher cabin classes and even when I am in domestic Y Row 4 and there are no/few in J I make the long trip to the back of the plane to the Y bathroom.
I take a little umbrage with russ's post that WPs having access to the Flounge makes them assume they can have everything else F as well, including the bathroom. I for one when I did hold that lofty status, and probably IMO, most WPs do respect the line and do not expect F facilities on board.

Apologies for the potentially misleading thread title

I had witnessed on QF F the same thing on two other occasions but had refrained from mentioning to any FA ... until now .... as I thought the 'reasonable' thing is to ignore such matters and get on with life.

Others' experience adds up a compelling picture of repeated transgressions (well, not 'open slather' as yet).

The issue is whether Emerald City is now assuming to itself a new 'unpublished' benefit.

Some comments here are certainly alluding to the triviality of the matter as if smirking IS the answer.

BTW, my last J trip was in 12F as a WP and I didn't think twice to go to the back (and not to the front where I had been two months earlier). Simple !

Not exactly true. There are a lot of things which the consumer has not paid for but claims an absolute entitlement

Free health care, free education are two.

Actually anybody who pays taxes contributes to their cost, therefore only the very rich and very poor don't contribute.

I can't remember the stats but the majority of the population actually receive more govt $$$ than they pay out in taxes. Like most i happy that there are govt provided program's but to call it free is a bit disingenuous .
