F Lounge Enhancements

I thought you were all a bit OTT about items being stolen from lounges until earlier today, in transit in SYD, I was informed that an entire iMac terminal was stolen from the domestic QP. They've had to install new CCTV cameras.

WTF?

Surely someone waltzing around the terminal with an iMac would be noticed? (or at least be visible on the cameras)?

Check switch port logs to see what time the machine was unplugged, and cross reference that to surveillance footage (if not in the lounge, then outside).

It's crazy, right? I would hope that they have gone through all of this anyway and are chasing it up. I didn't get too many details. Staff in the lounge told me that they're keeping a tight lid on everything now (they've hidden printing paper away out the back, for example) because of it and have installed new cameras focussing directly on the iMac area. They also said that mouse pads have been stolen.

This is not good. The lounge experience won't be the same. All because some *******s decide to knock off stuff.

Frankly, I'm livid at this.

MEL Flounge is great this afternoon, even better after QF9 has left...
Shower amenities stocked, bubbly chilled... only shame is no bollinger rose...
maybe we need to start a petition to get bollinger rose back... if the can have it at LHR, why not Oz?

I had some last time I flew a couple of weeks ago!!

I hope they still have some.

Oh dear....hic.....earlier flight has left me three hours in the SYD QF F lounge. Nice and empty excellent chips and the woodcutter shiraz is going down rather nicely. Seem highly unlikely I'll be capable of taking photos in the SIN temp F lounge.

Service has been good and it is sooooooo nice when it is quiet, not one other person in the section where I am sitting. (I'm wondering if QF has blocked it off since they seem to know who i am!! :p

Agreed.
I'm usually in a state of dishabille by the time I notice the deficiencies, so it's not exactly convenient.
And good luck finding someone to ask.

You HAVE to like any AFF'er who uses dishabille in a post about anything!

More "seriously" that is also my issue - by the time I discover what I need is missing .......

I'd agree with the sentiment that the MEL Flounge is more club like, always way less people than the SYD Flounge in my limited experience.

I still have to pinch myself that I am fortunate enough to time trips to SYD to catch JQ36 and can have a very nice time Flounging.

The MEL FLounge is my favourite. Smaller, quieter and friendlier service; no doubt as a result of the fewer pax. Always got a spa appointment at MEL, in fact IME they are praoctively offered, whenever I have been there.

If it means they might be replaced with PCs I can't shed any tears over iMacs going missing. It's one of my biggest annoyances with the QP that we are forced to use Apple desktops that make up maybe 10% of the desktop market.

Fail-safe way to turn any whY flight into a semi-bearable experience.....at least the first half anyway;)

So when you boot up the iMac as a windows machine how does it being an iMac adversely impact you?

Maybe it's just me, but the mouse action on the MAC is ordinary. It seems to be unresponsive and requires moving further than a PC... and Apple invented the mouse!

It's adjustable (not sure if you can do this in te lounge)

Not just you at all, they are shockers - the Apple wireless mouses are brilliant in comparison... i wonder how they would get the security lock on them though ;)

How the hell did they manage to get out with it without anyone noticing?

It was from the set of 4 towards the rear of the lounge - not from the main pool of computers. I still don't really know how they would have done it. Although maybe in luggage? Some people carry pretty big carry ons. I assume the operation would have been premeditated.

The keyboard is a good start. I find typing very difficult on those keyboards.

And the mouse is not much better. I find the right click is hit and miss and I do use right click quite a lot.
