Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

IN NYC about 5 weeks ago I was in the audience to see Helen Mirren in, 'The Audience'. At the interval, a big hubbub broke out behind me and I turned to see Bill and Hillary Clinton in the audience glad handling all very big smiles. It was a refined mass hysteria. If it depends on those NYorkers, she will get elected POTUS no worries. After the play ended it all started again out in the street, except the security people were quite bad tempered yelling for people to get away and out of the way and out of the street so that their car could move a whole 1 metre out into the traffic jam. All very entertaining. The play was great too. I'm not surprised she won the Tony, not that I saw all the other contenders.

Almost but not quite. I've been staying at the Beverly Hilton the last few days and last night on returning from a great 14hour day at a Universal Studios on a VIP pass with my daughter and wife, at around 10:30pm, our taxi was met by a roadblock on the driveway leading up to the hotel entrance. Security was everywhere, sniffer dogs, mirrors under the car, the whole kit and kaboodle. I asked what was going on and was just told that there was a convention going on. Some convention eh? When we were finally let through we were greeted by metal detectors in the lobby. Black limos and more security everywhere as well as reporters etc. I eventually found out that President Obama was staying at the hotel last night and tonight. I guess if the hotel is good enough for Barack then it's good enough for ...... No wait, perhaps he'd heard I was staying there? ;)

Well I didn't get to see him and if I did, doubt I would of got within a bull's roar. Almost but not quite.

Don't know whether New Yorkers would pledge their hometown allegiance to another presidential candidate - New Yorker Donald Trump? Whilst you can get away with a 'my way or the highway' or 'you're fired' attitude when you're a CEO of your own company, when you're POTUS there's this thing called Congress that can get in the way.

One for the perfume fanatics (like me :D )
Frédéric Malle onboard AA1223 sitting across the aisle from me. Now you may well ask how I recognized him and I confess that I didn't but I heard a French gentleman speak at the gate and once onboard my iPhone picked up his hotspot

A bit of googling at the gate and yes it is indeed him.
Bit sad that he slipped off the shoes and used the bulkhead as a footrest though :p

The President was in LA to do a podcast with the comedian Marc Maron. He usually talks to other comedians. I haven't listened to this episode yet, but Australia gets a mention in regards to gun laws.

WTF with Marc Maron Podcast

I've always wondered why people move about with their bluetooth/hotspot on broadcast (other than to make an initial connection). Apart from the obvious name/security issue as above, doesn't it unnecessarily drain the battery?

Matt "the lunchbox" shirvington filming a QF ad in the SYD J lounge right now.

I've never seen such a production for 7 seconds of footage, on average it's 1 person involved for every .7 of a second of footage!

Bob Katter at the CNS QP on 19/6. He really seemed like a fidgety flyer, constantly playing with his belongings and walking up and down the food spread.
