Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Coming back to Adelaide from MEL around 2 months ago sat in J with 5SOS
Yes you may ask who - as I was unsure what all the fuss was about and had to ask the FA.
They are 5 Seasons of Summer (or something along those lines) a boy band playing in ADL that night.
Funny thing was when we departed the aircraft going up the ramp we were met with hoardes of screaming teeny boppers - who we thought were excited to see us return.
To their dismay the boy band had been slipped straight from the airbridge down the stairs and into a waiting limo - so it was off to their hotel for the screaming teens.

Close - 5 Seconds of Summer :)

David Speers was in the CBR J Lounge this morning. He was watching Sky News while eating his breakfast before flying off to Sydney.

Today seems to get political for me. At SYD T2 (Virgin) and a very subdued (and confused looking) Bob Katter at Priority check-in followed by a determined looking Bill Shorten arriving from Melbourne on VA811 at Gate 45.

Darren Lockyer was sitting in front of me in J a few weeks ago on VA997

Just flew to Melbourne with Alan Joyce who was very chipper and in a Good mood. Didn't use priority boarding and stood at the end of a long line to board before taking his seat in row 2.

In the mid 90s when flying into Heathrow for work and not rushing. The crowd off the B747 had long disappeared along the cavernous corridor when a door opened on the left side, missing me by a small distance and in walked Mariah Carey with two uniformed guys escorting her.

Being a shy and retiring type I said, "Hi, how was your flight across."

With a huge smile (heart melting stuff) she replied and struck up a conversation with me as we walked along the corridor for a couple of minutes before she got to go through another side door and miss the 'great unwashed' immigration.

Really easy going person.

One thing she did admit was that she hoped she continued to do well as flying by private jet made the thought of flying commercial - a nightmare.

Sounds much like the warning, "once you fly J you won't want to go back to Y."

Shame I won't have the problem that she did.

A couple of months ago I went to MEL from CBR for a family funeral on QF. Two of my cousins flew CBR - MEL on Virgin. Their flight was extremely late and they were very annoyed because after it was delayed on the ground for ages Bill Shorten got on. They were convinced the flight was held for him.

I saw Bill Bailey in the QF Business lounge in Canberra last October. We'd seen his show the night before and were going to SYD for the NRL grand final (husband is a mad Rabbitohs fan so it was a good day for him). We'd met Bill Bailey before when he toured the animal shelter we both worked at a couple of years ago so while I'd not normally approach a celeb, I went up to him and said hi and said we'd me before, not that he'd remember. He kindly pretended to remember and was so lovely. I didn't take up more than a couple of minutes of his time - it must get so tiring to be famous!

Staying at the Taj in London. On the way to breakfast we were stopped by security teams. I saw 3 Buddhist monks coming out and recognized them as the same 3 who I had been standing next to their table, waiting to be seated. They had smiled and waved. I do hadn't thought much of them or the other guys around the room who looked like businessmen. Turns out the businessmen were the bodyguards are the monks were the Dalai Lama and his aides.

Eddie McGuire and family arriving in BNE on a QF flight from MEL earlier today.

If you like the Dalai Lama you'd probably like Mike Myers' documentary 'Supermensch - the legend of Shep Gordon' as he's got a few Dalai Lama stories. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen on anybody.

Sitting in QF's poor imitation of a Flounge in BNE.Looking straight at Wayne Swan.
A woman comes along and says "Can I sit here?"No problems.
A couple of minutes later she says "I think I know you?"
He notices my wide grin and answers-"I'm sure you do."
