Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

You'll have to remind me what is was that Mal did.

Get on a plane....get off....get back on a plane.....get off.....get back on a plane...all paid for by the Aussie taxpayer!

You missed the locations involved and the other bits. Basically, get on plane at BNE, get off plane at OOL. The other bit was that often the same commcar driver that dropped him off at BNE would pick him up at OOL. I think that was the particularly objectionable use of tax payer money.

Just outrageous.

How could flying be justified in that case? Surely it would be in everyones best interest for them to just stay in the commcar, save some money and be productive whilst in mobile coverage on the ground.

It's not about justifying anything just milking his allowance to the max. He wouldn't have even needed to go to OOL & I'll bet the minute he got there the Comm Car drove him straight back to BNE.

As for talking about politicians saving money & being productive.....best not go there!

This bloke would fly to PER & then get straight back on a plane & fly home to BNE......weekly. IIRC he ended up being the Deputy President of the senate - history is repeating itself with the current speaker of the house that seems to be quite comfortable sitting in the sin bin:!:

Julie Bishop was on DJ 560 yesterday PER SYD and her advisor sat behind in row 2. For all those DJ fans that hate the cheese platter that was all she had on the 4 hour trip. Mind you it is better than 737 800 cheese platter.

His official residence was on the gold coast, so that's why he would do the flight. I can't remember the exact details of the situation that had him in BNE and not flying home to OOL. Maybe he organised meetings in Brisbane after sitting. But I do definitely remember issue of the same car dropping him off and picking him up.

I think the speaker is a different situation. He isn't doing stupid things like Colston did. Like flying somewhere just to game the allowances. From what I read he is also saving money in some instances with taking a car from his home to the airport. Wiki doesn't provide much detail. Mal Colston - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But it does tell us that Howard is responsible for Colston become deputy president of the senate. His connection with the dismissal is also interesting, what a tangled web.

Anyway, well off topic.

Unfortunately Slippery Pete is my local member. His escapades are well known locally. As there is no longer a flight MCY-BNE he has to use a car-and often does a few detours to up the mileage.
Also not explained are his numerous trips to Kings cross when in Sydney and Fyshwick when in Canberra.

why .....
Because I am talking about his use of transport entitlements not whatever else he does. Our local paper has frequent articles asking questions as to his use of such entitlements.

What's wrong with numerous trips to the Cross. I'm there every week and work sometimes pays for it. :p
