For lunch today I had booked Lei Garden at Chijmes. However, even though I had confirmation for a table in the main dining room - they wanted to shove us in the inferior upstairs outpost - bugger that!

Politely expressed my disappointment and left. It's a shame as we've been coming here for 12 years, and think it's a great restaurant ... but this is Singapore, so no need to put up with poor service!

So I changed plans and booked a more substantial meal for tonight and then headed off in search of a more casual substitution for lunch.

Really like the vibe and old world charm of Chijmes ... definitely worth visiting, it offers something for everyone.

Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Paragon.

Recently awarded Michelin 1* - we've been coming here for the past dozen or so years... not surprised they got the star, delicious menu in a lovely setting, with an impressive high level of service.

That food looks incredible amaroo. My first trip to Singapore is coming in April and I am furiously bookmarking some of these restaurants. My weight and wallet are clearly going to take a hit.

So it's the Dnata lounge for us... third party lounge for CX.

Delayed flight that didn't get much better from there. Seat belt sign stayed on until after they'd served lunch Drinks were few and far between with the crew disinterested and unengaging. First time in a very, very long time I've needed to use the buzzer to get basic service.

Got the usual Emerald chit chat... would rather have a drink!

Best thing about this flight - it wasn't Jet* Asia.
