Meal was excellent - next time we'll book for dinner.

After a few hours sleeping by the pool - it was time for dinner!

Coming from regional Australia the food options aren't the best - I like Indian therefore, the options are bugger all.

Tonight we're eating Tandoor Grill

Ok, time to show you a little of The Peninsula, Bangkok

The Spa - the adults indulged and left the kids at the pool

The Spa is housed in a two story building behind the pool, it's an ESPA Spa.

SWMBO went for a 2 hour overhaul I decided on an 80 minute hot rocks massage. Beautiful!

If you come to Bangkok and want to stay on the Chao Phraya River, make sure you select a hotel with wide River frontage.

The photos below highlight how different River Frontage can be.... no use paying for the view and only end up getting a sore neck trying to see a glimpse.

The Pen pool is one of major draw cards for the hotel - it's unbeatable!

The pool is 88 metres long and cascades from the hot tub

The F&B quality and service is outstanding!

I need to stop reading this TR prior to meal time. I'm starving now! :)

Did you enjoy Nahm? We went back in 2012 and whilst the food was good for the most part, the service wasn't great. I am keen to go to Gaggan if we go back to BKK.

Very much. The food was superb and we'll happily return for another meal... only next time I book dinner rather than lunch.

The only dish we didn't like was dessert - pfft. Have read a truckload about the food being salty and OTT spicy - it was neither.

The service was stiff with the touch of the usual attitude that you get from most "named" restaurants.

Thought long and hard about Gaggan - toss of the coin and we ended up at the Charcoal Tandoori. We'll get to Gaggan next time!

Good to hear you enjoyed it. We went for dinner and the problem we had was that we ordered the banquet and they served all the food within about 1 hour. Six dishes at a time and no real break to digest any of it. Way too rushed to enjoy it at all. We also ordered the spicy version which was well beyond anything we could eat for some dishes :O

Looking forward to reading your food reviews from Tokyo!

Just the best day! Big day given we left the hotel at 6:30am and I've just plonked myself in the Club Lounge... but worth every minute of those 13 hours!

A teaser

Did you take those photos?
I don't think I can eat that much food...

After some information here (I like an AFFer who goes places I am planning for :))
How did you travel to see the monkeys? As a day trip or did you overnight? We are looking at going to Japan again over Christmas and I'm trying to sort out a draft itinerary. I take it these are at Jigokudani not the ones out of Hakodate.

Unfortunately it was time to leave Bangkok...

It's all good - we'll be back soon.

The drive to BKK was pleasant enough and took an hour... the traffic from the hotel to the freeway was typically awful - true definition of grid lock traffic. Once we hit the freeway, it was all clear. The driver said the return trip to the Pen would take him 2 hours... Avoid morning arrivals!

BKK-HND JL Business Class

Checking in at the JL first counter was a breeze and all bags tagged with F priority tags... interested to see if JL are any better with priority tagged luggage.

Had invitation to the CIP lounge, but knew better and headed to the CX lounge.
