Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat 13 -Sun 14 April]

I might be interested, although I am likely to be returning from SIN that weekend, so will leave it as tentative for now.

I have now found out that I can't attend for a completely different reason... I will actually need to ensure I get back to Melbourne a day or two earlier for a wedding on Saturday 13 April.

Speaking of which, what is considered late notice for these things? 2 months isn't a lot of notice to invite someone to a wedding. Although it may reduce the chance of forgetting :p

In the old days it was usually 2 months but you normally knew the date for many months prior to the official invite.

These days I guess we're lucky to get a paper invite! I wonder when it will all be done via Facebook! Heaven help us.

We used to write back a reply. Now it's mobiles and emails it seems. I replied to one invite to my nephews phone at the request of the invitation. Except my nephew never told his fiancée when he received a reply. She had to ring everyone to find out who was coming.

I have been following this thread with much interest and am hoping to attend.
Should know in the next couple of days...

Warning - post is OT.

That'd be in the old days before the invitations used to arrive with little notes that basically say "by the way, we want you to give us lots of cash instead of your boring idea of a gift". I so hate that. Why don't they just sell tickets to the wedding in that case?

But probably the worst wedding etiquette story I have heard is the bride-to-be (a former PA from my office) who sent out hundreds of "save the date" cards when she got engaged so that everyone would be free when she made her mind up who to invite to the wedding, even though she had no intention of inviting them all, and she didn't bother to tell the ones who missed out that they didn't need to save the date any more.

Welcome aboard... Will you be joining us for dinner at Jasmin Saturday night...?

Great to see this being well supported, such a good suggestion to hold this event / run Jessica

The impetus came from PLC and medhead, I just gave things a nudge.

I think Mr & Mrs oz_mark will be ok, with stark and Ewing able to guest them. I will ask straitman to update post 1 in a few days.

Fifa, it will be great if you can make it.

shintaro10x, there are about 8 for dinner based on post 1.

Should there be anyone not in the dinner list, please PM me or post again that you are coming for dinner. Also, just to keep track of numbers, if you have a ??? against your name in the P1 table, either post your seat number, or at least confirm you are booked. Thanks. Now back to the wilds of Tassie...

Jasmin I guess...?

Jessica,

What's the current numbers for dinner, shall I approach Jasmin to see if we can have the private room for the night..? Depending on numbers, "like" me if you think we should try for the private room at Jasmin Jasmin Restaurant – Private Room... if we get enough for dinner then it should be possible...?

Would be also keen to drain Markis10's minibar... but happy to bring some of my friend reinforcements lol (Mr Johnny Walker Blue esq & Mr Jas Hennesy & Co XO to name a few ), good friends of mine but sometimes get out of control

Cheers

Shintaro 10x
So has anyone worked out how to buy duty free doing a domestic leg of an international flight? ;)

I shall visit Jasmin on Wednesday if we are all happy with the location to negotiate access to their private room. Pretty sure we will need good numbers to support my request, so please everybody confirm with Jessica your attendance for dinner...

Also, what do we all think about having the banquet...?

Don't need duty free, if needed I'll bring some of my party friends ;)

But only after Markis10's mini bar is dry

Ok - all good. Booked into the Hilton - and will come to dinner.

Banquet Prices: -
Hungry: $48.00 per person
Starving: $57.00 per person

Really depends what's offer in FLOUNGE I guess...?

Never had staving. Hungry has always been sufficient.

Can we view the cricket bats from the private room?

That's code for buffet - be careful, you may get torn to pieces by some!

Clearly people who have never eaten at Jasmin. Full table service. Not sure what's wrong with some.
