Re: Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat-Sun Apr 13-14]

Don't need duty free, if needed I'll bring some of my party friends ;)

I have a slightly amusing story about Blue Label involving duty free and a household burglary. I must share one of these days.

Personally these days I prefer peaty single malts. I keep Lagavulin 16 stocked at home, and have also recently discovered Ardbeg Supernova which is spectacular.

As for dinner I'm interested. Putting my hand up for a late dinner though (8pm?)

I also think banquet is really the only way to go when there's a group involved at Indian, despite the dangerous turf!

Also, just to keep track of numbers, if you have a ??? against your name in the P1 table, either post your seat number, or at least confirm you are booked.

I believe I'm in 27K, and just noticed that PrincessK is in the same seat on P1??

PrincessK - Have you been upgraded?

FrankC...no...I'm alphabetically challenged it would appear and can't tell the difference between 27A and 27K!!!

Where's the emoticon for "hangs head in shame"?!?

Not fair :(

This is not going to be a popular suggestion by the looks of things, but I think we Adelaidians should consider our interstate guests in the choice of dinner venue. It seems to me that most are staying at the Hilton or Intercontinental, so with that in mind is Jasmin the best choice? I would have thought Chinatown or Leigh Street would be the way to go. After draining Markis10's minibar, the walk to Jasmin just seems like an inconvenience. And to be honest, these days the shorter your walk in Adelaide after dark, the much better your chances are of not getting stabbed or shot.

Leigh Street would be further IMHO, but the Gouger St selection may make more sense, as it's much closer to the Hilton for the interstate bretheren without vehicular access?

Comments?

I am not overly bothered. There is always safety in (staggering) numbers. We will need to book as it is a Saturday night and there are now at least 15 or so of us.

shintaro10x's post 217 has only had 3 likes so far, so that may be an indication. With regards the banquet, I will pass as my dietary requirements make them too tricky for me.

If you are staying at the Hilton then post here so we can see numbers

The tram is free, it stops right outside the Hilton and the IC. ;) As long as they avoid Hindley st they should be ok. But I don't think the shooting situation has really changed, my first night in Adelaide, in 1999, saw people getting shot.

Are you saying it was a bad idea for me to have gone walkies around Hindley St late one Saturday night?

Whoops. Didn't see anything bad though, there were lots of people and we had plenty of tasty food and drinks at some random tapas place just off Hindley.

No, not really.

That's my point. The tram is free, but it doesn't go anywhere near Jasmin. Chances are nobody will die on the way to Hindmarsh Square, but it just seems a bit out of the way. I have nothing against Jasmin and will go if that is the final choice.

True story - Jasmin is Mike Rann's favourite Indian restaurant....for what that's worth.

You probably ended up on Leigh St for tapas - there are couple of joints there.

I probably forgot to add the bit about the massive walk along Rundle Mall.

I did not know this about you. We have more in common than I realise.

I have a bottle of Laphroaig in my desk at work, not that I am ever actually at my desk. #naughty

Always picked up a 101 on my way through Changi, so cheap for 50% ABV American whisky

I buy most of my spirits in Changi, prices are generally the best going around... It is one of the benefits of flying through SIN so regularly.

Probably not the best thing to do. In my past life, you would be amazed at what goes on in places you can't see.

If we can all decide on Jasmin, or another place...

If we all agree then I will pop into Jasmin later this week to investigate the availability of the private room and see if there is any minimum numbers for booking the room, my thinking that the room holds 35, they may have issues giving us the room for only ~15 of us... But we wont know until somebody (like me ) asks

Its still quite some time away, but if we want the private room I think the earlier we book, the better...?

Jessica, not sure how we run a vote on where people want to go for dinner, I suggest we pick two locations Jasmin (City Eastern Side) "Other" (City Western Side)

Can we all perhaps post our preferences (East or West) and then we can tally up...? Then edit the first post with the outcome...?
