Re: Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat-Sun Apr 13-14]

Some more updates:

Hilton Adelaide exec lounge. I spoke with the staff last night, and whilst they are not able to 'reserve' a section of the lounge, they are happy if we 'take over' the back section. They suggested that a few of get there early (i.e. 5:45pm) and just spread ourselves out in that area.

ADL QP Arrivals Access. I have fore-warned the Adelaide lounge that there may be 30 of us descending on them at about 2pm. (Pun intended). They were quite sad* at the loss of QF81/82 but were pleased that the last flight was going to be commemorated. One of the staff may even sneak across to join us. Shhh.

Travel to Adelaide from the airport. A taxi ride will be about $20-25, and there are also 'maxi-taxis' that seat 10, so I suggest that would be the most efficient way of getting into town. I have listed ADL Hilton stayers, however if you are elsewhere, let me know and I will update. I think there may be a couple at the IC - although there is no sign of markis10's mini bar yet!

After party. As we are traveling from the international terminal bringing a bottle or two may be problematic. There is a Vintage Cellars and a Coles around the corner from the Hilton. They close at 5pm if we feel the need to get in supplies for 'ron.

Incidentally, if you visit the Adelaide Art Gallery for the Turner exhibition, you will notice it is sponsored by SIA to celebrate increasing their weekly ADL-SIN flights to 10. Ironic, much:?:

*sad: the polite description for how they feel about losing their direct SIN flight.

I will be staying in town on Sat night (but not Hilton nor IC - somewhere a lot cheaper )
Being someone with no status - would love to follow the group & get invited to any lounge(s) following the flight before dinner

Thanks once again Jessica for organising

I am sure we will be able to manage something. ;)

Hilton Adelaide are showing $143 at the moment which is a bit more than the $120 it was a couple of weeks ago. It seems we have snaffled the cheaper rooms. :(

I'm not staying at the Hilton or IC either.... where I'm staying is even cheaper than you

Jess, have you had a chance to scan the menu yet...? Or some good res shots from your phone / ipad...?

... I should have taken a photo of it yesterday...wonder if they do BYO...? Happy to share a bottle or two from my cellar* with some of you if that was possible...

FrankC as I am guesting you into the F Lounge I can guest you into the Hilton as well I am a NB at Hilton but have Club access.

Re: Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat-Sun Apr 13-14]

Newbies booking into the Hilton - Guesting is not a right into the lounge. The rules are the access is granted to the room occupants. If you have a friend "staying" with you (i.e. guest), ensure you have 2 people in your booking :)

(munitalP handy hint #68)

That is a very handy hint, worth remembering.

Shintaro10x, my booking is for 2 so your guesting is safe.

I will scan the menu when I get to work tomorrow night. From memory corkage is $9 but I will double check and confirm.

I've actually touch base with Des' minibuses in Adelaide. No connection to them. They have advised that the can provide a 24 seat bus for airport transfer to the city/hilton for $110. A luggage trailer would be an extra $15, if needed.

24 seats is the maximum size. They also do smaller buses like 16 seat.

What'dya reckon?

That seems like a good idea. Will they drop off to multiple locations in the city? I.e. Hilton, IC and other?

Assuming there are the numbers all we need to do is decide on a pickup time. Can I suggest 3pm, as that will give us time to clear customs, domestic security and to raise a glass in the ADL QP.

Put me down for 1, however if it gets full I can easily make other arrangements.

A luggage trailer? What's luggage? ;)

Please put me down for one seat. Have just booked my flights and a night at the Hilton.

Looking forward to being a part of the event. :)

And I'll be at the dinner.

Great news. I will update the spreadsheet. (31!). If this keeps up QF may have to do an equipment swap to a 747 to keep all the DYKWIAs happy. ;)

Incidentally, I have added a 'bus' column to keep an eye on the numbers.

They can then sit us all in the Upper Deck :)
