Because mine is a points usage, the QF girl said I have to go through QF FF to change to get the 7am QF409 767 plus that 5,000 QF FF change fare penalty.
As I am not yet QF SG, so it's a gone case.
Thanks again everyone.
I will now cry into my cider.

You won't "pay" the 5k points (oh wait QFF are not working now I guess :( ).. throw yourself on the mercy of the staff at SYD in the a.m. I guess.

Am sorry to hear this has worked out like this for you. Still, have hope. Airport staff have final say and they can move you. if not at check-in, plea with the QP staff. I am sure *someone* will see your need is genuine.

best wishes for a good outcome for you in the morning!

RichardMEL if only I had seen your reply, but had already gone to gate to get my flight to SYD.
Even waved my QP card to the girl at the rows if desks.
CSS inside secure zone closed by now.
Never mind, I get to see my 2nd Aussie sunrise from a plane!
Sorry Mod/s I am stretching my luck with this.
Am in iPod in Ibis Budget.
Last reply on this thread from me.

And now 401 is showing as a 73H. oh dear. This is variable. It could change yet again by 5:58am the way this saga is going!

Hello brains trust,
I couldn't get to MEL for the last 767 service but I'm fortunate to be on QF825 DRW-BNE on Wednesday. Last one out of Darwin or so I'm told. I'm booked in discount whY. Given the reports of late aircraft swaps lately, should I burn 20,000 pts for a J upgrade? If so what are my chances on Christmas Eve as a PS?

mods, if you think this post needs to be in the upgrades help desk thread, feel free to move it.

Y is quite full, but there are a few J seats left, although no class U availability. I think your best bet would be to turn up at the QP on the day (opens 10.30am if memory serves me correct), check that the 767 is indeed flying, and ask for an upgrade there.

Thanks a million RichardMEL, your last comment worked.
QF401 is now a narrow bodied plane, your comment about chatting to the girls in the QP worked a treat.
Got QF409 instead, she moved me to the 7am one, which still shows as 767 as of now.
Plane not at Gate 4 yet, but paws crossed.
I know I said I wouldn't talk about it anymore, but just to say thanks.
And yes, I did thank the girl that gave me the flight change, no change fee, no fuss.

Sensational result!!! I had a good feeling at least one agent would take pity and understand what you wanted and why and make it happen. Besides, it's rare someone shows up and deliberately wants a LATER flight.. and there was plenty of space showing (9's) so it would have been an easy thing to do. Sweet to waive fees too.

I'm so glad it seems your quest has worked out and I hope you have been able to relax and enjoy, FINALLY, your last 767. good result all around. Very pleased for you! :)

Great news AustraliaPoochie. I am glad your perseverance has paid off. Please post a pic if you took any.

There was some interesting flights last night and this morning with OGO operating XM (Freighter) services SYD-MEL-BNE-SYD in the 'wee hours' with their extra capacity for Christmas (OGL is due to do similar this evening).

When is/was OGT's last flight? just out of interest. Is your friend of a friend of a friend able to tell?

Scheduled for this Friday ... arriving in MEL 12:05 and departing 19:00 back to SYD - given the length of that layover, it's a candidate for rescheduling if operational reasons dictate.
...

Currently Friday's QF825 is scheduled to be a 763.

I would think that the chances of that flight being swapped to a 73H are very low... All the flights out of DRW are quite full this week and there are no other flights so no other flights onto which they can move people.

I'm on the 13:50 flight to Sydney on Wednesday- I should be around in the QP before your flight leaves. You can't miss me - I'm the one with a backpack with a cushion hanging off the bottom of it (the seat cushions in the exit rows on the 73H are not built for comfort).

She was a babe. Called me Darhling!
My faith in QF is now on par again.
Goodbye QF 767 planes.
And hello QF 330 plane which awaits me Christnas Day PER - MEL.
Night arrival if no swaps.
Ok, no more 767 waffle from me.

TripleB you need cargo pants, a fluoro work shirt and a hard hat.

I had to turn my devices off.
But it was a good feeling flying the 767 one last time.
Even the QP babe said she preferred the 767.
Turning point at way points are something I will miss on the 767, deep and dramatic!
Ok, VA flight next.

Re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Advisory Community invitation

I got my wish. Got the seat 50K on QF409 as suggested by RichardMEL.
So that settles it.
