Final flights for the B767

That’s right. QF490 on 27 December 2014 will now be operated on a Boeing 737-800, not the Boeing 767-300 as originally planned.

We recognise there are many customers purposely booked on this flight to be part of the final Qantas Boeing 767 service. Customers currently holding bookings will soon receive an email advising of the changes, and with an offer to move across to QF452* at no cost.

*QF452 will be the last commercial B767 Qantas flight, departing Melbourne on 27 December at 5pm and will arrive in Sydney at 6.25pm.

If you would like to change your existing booking, please contact us by 19 October so we can make the necessary adjustments.

Brilliant news Red Roo and well done on proactively contacting those passengers booked on the original flight (of whom I was one) :)
I have now phoned and re-booked on QF452 and to cap it all off I got my favourite seat :D

Oww, see, they have swapped the 767 to the 737.
This will cause no end of grief for those who have paid QF good money for something which cannot be delivered.
In a way, I knew something like this could happen, now seeing that it has for some people's cases, the lame swap... I don't have much hope or positiveness my day will be a 767.
Pople who have bought flex Y for that flight that Princess brought up, will swap to a 330 if they can, or cancel...
Grrr, mine was a discY, so I have to fly on the ADL to MEL sector, even if in the end its a 737.
Maybe RedRoo, rather than a 737, you or Qantas could put in a "special" 330 for those that got the swap.

The 19:00 former 767 was a dinner service, (even if just a boxed meal), but the 17:00 is a refreshment service, ... you do the math(s)... probably a muffin.
Ok, ok, ok, excuse an old half blind dog will ya!

aircraft type is never guaranteed...QF didnt have to offer these alternative fee free options on tickets that would normally incur a fee... get over it..

Don't worry - Qantas has stated they will change the original AND any connecting flights to accommodate pax on the revised final 767 service (although they didn't really have much choice, it is good to see them being proactive and pax not having to fight for their rights).

Given it's a Sunday, I suspect many would be able to change their plans to leave a couple hours earlier, and indeed fly back home the same night if necessary without an overnight stop in Sydney. Perhaps a good move (except for those who might have lost hotel bookings).

I'm not sure that is correct. The final B767 services were advertised as such, and pax buying tickets on that flight, for that purpose, would be entitled to change accordingly, or to receive a full (cash) refund.

Ok, ok, ok, excuse an old half blind dog will ya!

How is this relevant to the thread ?
Confused much ?

With all due respect I don't think any of us are remotely bothered about the meal.
We are booked on the flight as it is the last commercial 767 flight for Qantas.
It will be a huge occasion even if we have to BYO dinner.

Actually it was an 8pm service which the last time I flew it, was a supper service so I fail to see your point..

The upside is that I can now book somewhere nice for dinner, rather than relying on lounge and plane food :D

Why will it cause "no end of grief" The people who booked the flight for the last flight are being changed free of charge (took 3 mins on the phone for me to change mine). The people who wanted to fly at 8pm will still fly at 8pm but on a 737. no big deal, they would have picked the flight based on time not aircraft.

Why is it a lame swap? It means they can give it a proper send off in daylight where people will see it.

So why should they put an A330 on to replace a 767?? I doubt on a saturday night theyd have the load at 8pm for an A330.. They don't even on a Friday night! I think you are trying to make an issue out of nothing.

Seems like everyone has been made aware and they have changed accordingly - good to see QF being so proactive in contacting people, as many on that flight were there for the obvious reason

Much better to arrive when there is still daylight..........this will be a historical event.

It was an 8pm service, but it was listed as dinner. AFAIK 1800-2000 is the dinner time departure schedule for east coast.

To save me going through the entire thread is there any get together being considered for those AFFers on QF452 on 27 Dec, other than obviously at the lounge ?? Lunch on Saturday or even dinner on the Friday? Just determining the alternatives.

I'm happy with the change... I couldn't do the 8pm flight due prior commitments but the 1700 departure suits me fine. As such, I'm booked in!

I haven't heard of anything, but certainly seems like a good idea.
