Final flights for the B767

I just happen to be in SYD for Xmas, and it looks quite interesting especially as I can now make it for dinner in SYD on Sat. Now to decide if I want to be in MEL earlier, or follow the plane down on QF435.

Changed my flight......but I am yet to book anything down to Melbourne!

Would be great to join an AFF event at either end. Also, if anyone can guest a +1 into the J Lounge in Melbourne that would be great :) (unless, of course, the lounges are closed for yearly maintenance, then I am happy to guest anyone into the QP)

It appears there are 4 window seats left! But a lot of empties in the middle.

I'm also in 34/K... but now have a real fear that if the flight is oversold I might find myself the recipient of an op-up to an aisle in J, spoiling my view :p

Price is starting to head upwards now also, now up to $289 with five or fewer. Probably should book my flight from SYD - MEL soon just can't decide when :P

The same plane is doing QF435 at 13:00, and award seats are available in J.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1413162841.201038.jpg As per expert flyer there are only a handful of (undesirable?) window seats (36K, 53K, 54A, 54K) left.. most at the back of the bus.

First time anyone's dreaded an op-up?

Back after a brief hiatus, and I'm glad I came back in time to see this thread and the AusBT list of final flights for each city pair. Booked onto QF452 in Y for the absolute bargain basement price of $289 .

Never thought I'd pay such an astronomical price for a seat up the back somewhere, but I'm just glad to be onboard. Also grabbed two Classic Award seats in J on the final SYD-BNE flight that same morning (QF 508 & 517), so I'll be riding the triangle all day. Just gotta find a cheapie flight down to MEL now...

Has AFF pushed up the price of the last 767 flight?

There are many people going on the flight who aren't members of AFF. A large contingent from the Facebook group and others aware of it through the article in AusBT which has since been updated with the revised schedule.

Indeed, I don't know the breakdown of members who are in both AFF and FFA, but presume the latter did more to push the price up :p

That being said, I think it's stabilised now, there was an initial surge and now it'll probably just be people booking for a non-symbolic flight.

If the numbers on Facebook are accurate it's in the 60's

Mind you some of us will be there as dual citizens :D

Same same but different.

I don't follow the other forums but sounds reasonable that people want to be on last 767 flight.

I have a few 767 flights between now and then and I will certainly miss the 767 aircraft on domestic opertations. There was a time there in my early commute where all flights I booked were 767s. Qantas has made that more difficult of late and I have also been having a high rate of substitutions.
