FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Thanks for that Dave - very interesting. Was tossing up booking Waldorf Astoria in SHA next May but just felt it too expensive for my lonesome - will contact Concierge and see that price they offer on 4 for 3 deal - will report back.

And really looking forward to your exp with booking Limo transfer.

If last Thursday was any indication of the limo service, could not fault them receiving an SMS 3 hours before being picked up with the drivers name and mobile. Should have taken a photo but was amazed how 60 or so black limos could be parked around the finger wharf at 9:30 at night. Extremely well managed and hosted so no problem having to find your driver for the trip home.

Hi all. Been lurking around and finally decided to sign up.
I'm very interested in the Golf benefits of this card actually!
Does anyone know which courses they allow the unlimited rounds & the 3 complimentary rounds etc?
I'm particularly interested in the courses in Sydney... :)

EDIT:

I called up The Lakes. They told me you can play 5 days of the week socially. (excluding Wed/Sat)
It basically gets charged to Citibank every time you play. No idea about other courses though...

Yep managed to get my primary card pack after the supplementary cardholder got theirs as well but I think Australia Post are likely involved in that!
+1 on needing SPG added (or AA). I hit the AA rep up every year at the QF business travel functions I'm invited to and suggest they might want to establish a CC partner downunder. He certainly indicates that I'm not the only one asking so maybe it'll make it's way back to Dallas one of these days.
Whilst I'm underwhelmed at the FF changes I do think the return of the free hotel and the private transfer is great.
I also confirmed that the free hotel night is per calendar year. Does anyone know if the date of the stay has to be within the given calendar year or only that you have to arrange the booking with that year? (ie can I use the free night privilege due to expire on 31/12/14 for a stay in 2015?)
Leather passport wallet is nice but impractical for my personal needs (needs a zip closure and a proper passport section and a coin slot would be nice) but beggars can't be choosers.

No love for me from Citi. Did not get the leather passport wallet!!

Leather passport holder thingo about to be re-gifted to mother-in-law, wrapped around a return BNE-LAX J award ticket, booked with citi points via velocity. Thanks citi, for keeping my in-laws happy for another year.

Booked hotel night for December in my home town. Sat night availability was there. Will try to arrange limo transfer for early next year... No 30K points on my October renewal (last month of select before the prestige re-branding), but too busy to ring them and whinge.

Citi seems very generous here.

In other citi news, on the same day I activated the new prestige branded card, my account has been compromised. Got a call from citi card security telling me of suspicious transactions (in roubles!), luckily for me only totally $300. Card blocked, new card to be issued in five to seven business days. Lucky I didn't have any big transactions next week! First time my card has been compromised in living memory. Not sure where the leak happened. Tend to use citi card a lot (as does my partner with a linked companion card), so it could have been any number of places. Anyone else have recent experience of this?

Yeah, my cards get compromised all the time. Not an issue, use another one for a while. Card security (of all banks in general) seem really onto it, considering my profile/spending habits.

Citi blocked me after some avianca purchases went through, and then asked for my card number when I called them in response to my sms alert! Hung up and called the main number who sorted it out.

It's unbelievable that the CC security team would ask your card number over the phone as the first bit of ID!!

Hi all,

I bought this card in anticipation of making certain bpay payments that are no longer valid from CC... I decided to hold onto it and use as many benefits as possible. I had converted from the Clear Platinum after having a 15K limit (I don't meet the income threshold). So far what I have found is:

Concierge
- Good at responding quickly
- Has only been one case where they didn't get back to me in time frame promised in about 15+ emails
- Have promised to try to book Juro in Tokyo in September and knew all about the hotel and where to go etc.
- This and the earn rate are the strong points of the card definitely

Hotels
- Each group of hotels is different for 4 nights for the price of 3, Visa Luxury and the free nights.
- The quality of the free night hotel is the worst of the bunch with most coming in around AUD $150.
- There is no way to book this online you need to email concierge and they come back to you a day or two later
- Also number available is 80 worldwide with most in Asia/Aus
- Blackout dates and availability constraints are significant. I tried to book one of the hotels in HK at the beginning of October next year and was advised that there was no availability in HK during that week due to national holidays
- The other two hotels in HK did not have rates loaded beyond March
- The benefit is per calendar year and they would not let me rollover even with limited horizon till March which is a bit poor. More rates to be loaded in Jan.
- Trying to book a hotel for work in Brisbane for next Thursday only the Mantra on Queen is available out of two hotels
- Overall free hotel night is much worse than it sounds due to constraints. Would only value at less than $150, much worse than AMEX reserve for example
- One per calendar year for the hotel can book ahead
- Hilton Gold is a good benefit for those that don't have it

Golf
- In Aus only two courses available for free all year round. Lakes near Mascot which is 300 AUD normally and another in Mornington peninsula
- 3 lots of fees on public courses could be a better benefit (when playing with a partner as Lakes is so much normally)

Limo
- Twice per calendar year for the actual ride. ie for 2014 you get two rides in 2014.
- On arrival from airport not to the airport
- have booked in for family trip on Dec 23/Dec 28th to Melbourne will report on limo then
- 30ks is included for free but for far away airport it seems to vary ie for Narita to Grand Hyatt Tokyo this was free even though 70+ ks
- Can book on domestic as well as international - useful for Melbourne where cab is expensive
- Booking done online and handled well

Priority Pass
- Well covered elsewhere. Will be good for travelling through Europe and Asia
- Unlimited pass for cardholder not the 2 visit limit as elsewhere

Earn rate
- Obviously the best out there for KF/VA. Asia Miles equal to AMEX earn rate and award chart for CX better than QF in most cases

What would make the card better:
- free night with either Hilton or Shangri La. This may work well for those hotels to get people hooked on Gold as well and Citi may be able to negotiate a better rate
- SPG transfer partner
- Online interface for booking free hotel night
- At the very least the actual agent being able to check availability when you ring up

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on the above. Obviously the Luxury hotels would be good for people with more expensive tastes than me.

Thanks,
Paul

That's good to know - thanks for info. Am off to China week of 15th will try to use it PVG and MEL on return.

If I could only get my hands on the card - Supp 1 received his on Nov 27 / Supp 2 received his Dec 1 / Supp 3 received hers Dec 2 - mine yet to arrive.

Got approved for this card. Didn't know minimum limit was $30k. Should get it next week or so.
Something I didn't see much mention is the extra 33% reward points compared to Signature.
So I'm looking forward to that and also the golf/hotel benefits.

I also would have liked it better if the complimentary hotel night was for a hotel chain/group such as Hilton or Accor etc.

I think min. credit limit is 15K or maybe it's because I had a Select card vs then was migrated to Prestige

I did mention earn rate which would have been useful for said bpay payments.

I'm sure you could book it without. If you had the Select it should have the same card number anyway.
