FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

I am about 2 weeks away from using two Platinum KrisFlyer credit cards on ATO that are a direct sweep. I will retain three warehoused cards ( Citi Select, Black Altitude and Amex Premier Rewards which is a US Amex). All good so far in warehouse land for us but life can change quickly.

Hopefully will see a few of you at the Sydney launch at Otto on 20 November. Just received the invite via email with the complimentary chauffeur service to and from home a nice touch by Citi.

How much do you need to put through in spend to get an invite to the launch? Guessing I'm not yet in that league (I'm at $250-300k).

I still give the card a heavy workout post ATO paying for itself in days rather than weeks.

I've put in very well over 7 figures year to date.. No invitation received. Based in SYD. Doesn't appear to be spend based. Also Citigold member.

The airport transfers and free hotel night are interesting. Golf is meh. Slightly disappointed there is no earn bonus for holding the card > 1 year. Definitely increases the likelihood of churn for me. A few new transfer partners wouldn't go astray.

Boys and girls! here's a preview of the benefits..

... and then what?

no significant changes I can see. happy to pay $350 annual fee which is pretty much the free hotel night. still don't think it's worth the standard fee of $700/year.

bit disappointed - was hoping for something a bit more exciting. need to temper my expectations next time!

Might be worthwhile in the first year for the signon bonus but for me the fee-free Signature offers a better value proposition.

The card was already a no brainer for me and never used Priority Pass or other benefits apart from the hotel night out before being removed earlier.
The various hotel improvements may be of benefit and will now include Emirates in our flying schedule.
The RSVP for the 20 November Sydney launch was 26 October so might be a further round of invites soon going out.

Ok for those who asked me, I just called up and pushed quite hard for the select at $350 given the devalue that occurred on the card (plus I was putting through $20-25k per month from my parent's business).

The new card will have the following additional features (I called up and went through it):
- 2 QFF per $1 spend (yes that's right - she confirmed this three times as I didn't believe it) or 2 citi reward for $1
- 5 QFF for $1 spend on international (also same for citi points)
- fee night in hotel at 80 different locations
- spend 3 nights and get 1 free at heaps of different hotels
- some golf package to play complementary at a number of different courses (2 different packages)
- golden circle membership at shangri-la (I can't remember which one was free)

I don't think priority pass was mentioned but I may have forgotten.

For me now it's a no brainier :)

So...

Don't see the QF points at quite the level the rep mentioned.

And this is why we wait for the product info, as opposed to bothering to ask Citi staff anything...

Anyone tried upgrading from a signature to a select card before? do they still call HR etc to check income?

Reason I ask is that, I was a long time AMEX Plat EDGE user and older AMEX's before that and I signed up to the platinum charge card online and got approved instantly. So does it happen at citibank??

I don't quite meet the min income....

Hilton gold status is certainly a good benefit. Don't have any experience of Shangri-la hotels but free buffet breakfast is a good inducement. Emirates transfer rate is frankly appalling and not worth bothering with.

Would be interested to see if anyone has attempted this or if it is at all possible/simple? (suspect not :-))

To add to this, if they did do it, do you retain your Rewards points from the previous (Signature) card (not Qantas) or would you need to use/transfer them first?
