FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

We have two cards and they have survived the titanium bladed scissors. We have one for QF and one for SQ and VA. The 4 hotel nights and pay for three will cut the annual fee to zero with the saving.
We are heavy users most months for everything other than ATO.
Mrscove ran over her credit limit and the card continued to work. She received a snail mail letter to tell her and no harm done but I think a $40 charge was put on her account. Not to worry as we always pay both cards to zero each month on autopay.

Can someone give me some quick advice (I know the answer is probably somewhere on this thread but I can't find it!). I need to pay for a car I bought which is over my limit - if I overpay the account into credit, will I earn points on the whole amount?
IME - YES you will - I have been many thousands over limit many times and always rcvd pts.

Thanks for posting villemus - the 2 Crown Hotels in MEL added to free one night stay list means I might actually finally use that benefit.

Stay 4 Pay 3 still a fabulous benefit - if you can get 2 cards to share in same family is huge plus - we used that system in EU last year - 2 stays x 4nts booked back to back = Stay 8 Pay 6 nts - when hotel rates >AD500/nt easy to rack up AD2-3K saving per year - add the other benefits - damn cheap card for even those who pay ann fee $700 - damn damn damn cheap if you pay no ann fee! ;)

Thanks villemus

I didn't realise the transfer service was two per calendar year and not two per membership year.

I only have a return SYD-MEL until the end of the year

Looks like i'll have to use them for that trip.

Is there any problem with a 5.00am pickup going to the domestic airport.?

And clearly they are not real accurate in keeping records of your transfers ea yr - I have had 3 so far this yr and might try for a 4th in week or 2.

Yeh, I had 4 already this year and 2 hotel stays... their system is a little bit off. I suppose it all balances out as not everyone uses it all up

Just moving to Prestige now after upgrading from my Signature card. Was able to carry the annual fee (free for life) over to it as well and the process was fairly simple to do over the phone. Only problem now is getting the card in time of my direct debits haha

Congrats. That's interesting because you seem to be the only person who have managed so far to carry the free for life over from signature (unless others here prove me wrong). Did they agree easily to waive the fee over the phone for life? And are you a big spender on the signature?

I had to wait on the phone for around 10 mins when I requested to retain the same annual fee (being nothing) as she needed to check with the team. I'm not much of a big spender, I usually put most of my spend on my Amex Platinum Charge, but I've taken advantage of a few BTs and spent at most $1.5k a month on the signature. It may of been due to having a credit limit that was close to the minimum (29k) too that would of made it less of an issue.

Knowing Citibank, perhaps it may be better you get a written confirmation from them about the free for life deal in case if there are any issues about that in the future. I might try your trick later this week! My current free for life signature has a higher limit than my not so free prestige!

I'm suspecting the same thing, but she assured me that if I get charged an annual fee to call her back and it'll be resolved. Assuming calls do get recorded, she intended to call me back tomorrow (as she wanted to follow up) and I'll get this in writing as I need to confirm the card's ETA too.

One more thing, I explicitly asked if there were any implications (fees charged, credit checks, etc) from requesting this upgrade and again, was assured of none whatsoever.

Please let us know the outcome of this data point. Would be good to know if someone with both a fee free for life Signature and a $700 or $350/yr Prestige can get the Signature upgraded to Prestige for free (and then cancel the first Prestige). Can one hold the same credit card twice anyway?

Certainly will! If I've been duped, I will definitely seek to get it free nonetheless. I'll be back with an update later today.

I just rang them to try my luck ... no way (Jose) was the reply. However, I managed to get 80% cheque to self for 6 months interest free via my Signature card. Can be used to offset my mortgage and savings go towards my Prestige annual fee instead.

The data points from here as well as other forums have indicated that there are only a FEW HANDFUL of people who have managed to have their Prestige annual fee waived. Usually Citi are quite happy to reduce this to $350 - which I believe most of the people are with Citi Prestige.

I was on no fee for 2 years due to being Citi Gold - but they wouldn't waive the fee at all this year inspite of the spend being more than half a million a year

The only time I have asked for special consideration was as a result of missing a payment. They wouldn't reverse the finance charge so I negotiated down the annual fee for the following year. We are big users so the fee is not signicant compared with the first class and business class travel we get each year. The stay 4 nights and pay for 3 nights hotel deal works ok as well. Just no ATO......but everything else works well and with 2 cards I can pay some pretty large stuff each month.

I also tried for a fee free for life on the Citi Prestige card, was told no way, and Citi rep never heard of it to be as phamid mentioned , will be interesting if phamid could scan the fee free letter he gets with his Citi Prestige card to prove they really mean fee free for life.

Managed to snag 2 airport trans on the 1 trip.
trick was to use the first one then call up for the second after the first was used.
