FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

We have our 4 night deal at Marriott Marquis in NYC this month. This hotel is right at Times Square so we enjoy it.

Good to know, I was just looking to book this hotel and couldn't find it in Citi Travel site so was worried the concierge wouldn't be able to book it under the 4 night deal!

Has anyone used the complimentary Meet & Greet service at Bali airport recently? Do I remember correctly that it an only be used for the primary cardholder? Just wondering what happens if you book it for yourself and then turn up with your partner at the airbridge...

Hi, got a few newbie questions re Prestige benefits as it's the first time I have taken advantage of it

1) for the Hilton Honor Gold status. do I have to book via the official Hilton hotel website? I have registered online for the Honours recently and got my HH membership number. and I have also booked a Hilton Sydney stay soon, but I booked it via American Express Travel (cos I have $200 travel credit to use). does that mean this stay won't count towards the 2 stays/4 nights requirement for HiltonHonors Gold cos I booked via Amex or can I still show my HH membership number when I check in?

2) for the 4 nights pay for 3 deal, if I can see a good deal/price on hotel.com.au, that means the Citibank people will use that same deal (minus one night)?

many thanks in advance :)

I haven't been able to double dip on the stay 4 nights and pay for 3 nights at Hilton Brisbane, Marriott Marquis Times Square nor The Novotel Bunker Bay Resort but those 3 free nights saved us quite a bit of cash.

The way I understand that the 4 for 3 nights deal works is that you get the average of the four nights before tax discounted. So, for example, if you find a hotel that has a fourth night free offer, that doesn't preclude you from using the Prestige benefit, it's just that your discount would be on the actual three nights payable. I am going to test this theory for a 2018 booking when they release the 2018 Prestige benefits so will report back then.

Just confirming my previous post that you can combine a fourth night free offer with your 4 for 3 nights deal to bring the cost of your stay down further :)

Has anyone had any joy with a discount on the annual fee (non Citigold) recently? Looking at canning my prestige at $700 but would keep it at $350, I rang and without going to cancellations was told no dice.

Yep. I was Citi Gold about 5 years ago and got reduced to $350 as part of that program. Pulled my money out almost immediately but they maintained the reduced fee until now. Last week, I rang to cancel but was offered half of half ($175) so I took it. I have about 8 PrPass lounges in next 12 months + free hotel - probably a good deal.

Yea I got a half annual fee discount just last week.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll give it another crack.

I don't use PP (have same deal through Amex charge), but do use the free night and airport transfers so its not a total write off, but with the points devaluation I wasn't going to keep it. I was surprised how adamant they were that there was no discounts but the CSR hadn't gone through the account verification with me so I suspect she wasn't looking at my account. Been with them for 12 years and spending average $35k pm which I would have thought was worth a lot more than a $350 discount on the annual fee.

I’ve been with them for about as long and was spending on the Six figures but they didn’t budge. I think ultimately the interchange reductions made it uneconomic for Citi to want to keep transactors who pay no interest. The full annual fee will likely just pay for the ‘benefits’ like PP and the hotel night so little room to discount the annual fee.

I have always been on $350 p.a. even after losing citigold.

How did you get half of half? Did they just proactively offer say $175 to stay?

I would stay at $175, but at $350 seems marginal given I no longer reside in Australia (used to put all my o/s spend on it though which i understand was and still is very high margin for them!), and have a local prestige card which gives me almost the same benefits apart from the 2 x complimentary airport transfers

Not quite sure, Ermen. Somebody, somewhere during the "I'm leaving" conversation mentioned it (half of 350). Initially I said "jam it" (even at $175 since I was so cross at the devaluation to 0.4 ppd) so they started the closure process. But then I had think about it over the weekend and rang them back - even the one night hotel would come close.
30k per month spend but that doesn't seem to be relevant since Edman got knocked back on 35k........ Go figure

My double points deal ended at the end of October. Have to do a couple of 4 night and pay for three fairly soon.

So we cannot transfer to HHonors from 13th Dec 17. It is a shame as there were some good redemption options at Hilton in Asia. Appears that the benefits are getting eroded gradually. Gone are the times (before devaluation) where 1 citirewards gave us 4 HHonors points!!!

What have people been moving to if cancelling prestige? Trying to find a combo of decent points with s’more than 1 supp holder is not easy!
