FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

The way I read your post was that you would transfer your super fund to Citi to save maybe $350 on an CC Ann Fee? If that is incorrect then I apologise.

To go a bit further - the only reason I ever had even 2 bob in Citi was to mount a case that they could not contemplate not giving me Select card given my abysmal personal income level - so I planted 100K in an account there for 3 mths until I got Select then exited Stage left ASAP - gazillion places better to have any funds than in Citi IMHO.

Not quite - you need to maintain balance of 100K continuously for 1 month to qualify for Citigold - then you start the process of calling them and arguing / demanding that your status online change so you can actually see the Citigold status then take a screen capture so you have the evidence to substantiate your claim once it goes pear shaped and they claim NO you must pay $700 ann fee cause you are not Citigold - at which point you say 'Hold on - here is the evidence!'

Trust me - this is how it plays out with Citibank - expect everything to be a drama then you will not be surprised when it does occur. Been there - done that!

This is how it played out with me too. Had to fight to get the annual fee halved.
I achieved this by calling the Citi Gold line instead of the Select line.

Already launched:
On 30 October 2014, the Citi Prestige card will be launching in Australia. The new Citi Prestige card will be replacing your existing Citibank Select card. You will be receiving a new welcome pack with your new Citi Prestige card by mid-December. You can still use your Citibank Select card in the meantime as usual.
Noticed new header on latest Citi Statement:

thanks for this - also called up to get Hhonors sorted - that number is the generic card number and i was transferred, to someone far more competent - sounded singaporean. also proactively offered to upgrade my shangri la, for which i was not yet registered.

thankfully, a citi promise actually was followed through on, so thank you chelsea, and i present the list of hotels for the free nights stay.

Hi All,

I think that the previously attached list may be from the old Citibank Select list.

Just looking at the Melbourne hotels, the 3 hotels that are listed (Adina, Metro, Windsor) are the ones that were offered to me last year when I booked a free night through Citibank Select.

When I contacted Citibank this week to book a hotel with the new Citibank Prestige card, I was offered a choice of 3 different hotels in Melbourne: Metro Apartments, Hilton on the Park and Hotel Lindrum Mgallery.

I have also requested a list of hotels from Citibank and am waiting on a reply

Has anyone upgraded from Signature to Select/Prestige and managed to get any kind of fee waiver? Especially if you're currently holding a fee free card? Thinking of getting this and ditching Westpac Altitude Black but not at $700 p.a. Long shot I know. I can't be coughd moving $100k across just to qualify for the halved annual fee (but lose more in the process).

I did make an enquiry to see if the 1/2 annual fee could be 'for life'.

That was the day before I left for a trip. I will contact them once I get back to Oz to see their response.

If yes, it could work out OK esp with the free hotel back on the menu.

Should have the chance of meeting a few Citi staff at the card launch next Thursday so am planning to use the opportunity to outline some possible card improvements.
Three main areas of concern are:
1. No ATO earn - going from the best to the worst for a premium card is crazy. They should introduce a lower earn rate - not keen to raise the option of a cap on ATO points earn;
2. Limited airline redemptions - Westpac add MH & NZ with Amex adding MH, NZ, EY, TG and VS;
3. Rewards store is hopeless to use which I avoid going to QStore or Westpac.

Any other key issues with the card that should be raised? Also any order that should be pursued in adding airline redemptions?

SPG, AA, UA transfer options? If Citi adds all of them, then it kills other credit cards in the market.

While I agree, it's hard to argue for them to sell AA/UA miles into Australia since neither AA/UA are really players here (ok united have couple of routes here).... but SPG is a better argument as SPG do have hotels here/in the region and you can transfer SPG to most airlines anyway...

any guesses as to how you scored an invite/ what might prompt the rest of us to get a gig? e.g. citigold, 6/7 figures through the card p.a. etc? :)

i personally would be keen for an airline gold status. doesn't really matter which one as you'd try and parlay it into the others...
