FINNAIR - new Business Class AirLounge seat

You will need to be QF Gold or above for any seat selection to stick with Finnair.

Probably lesser posted, AY074 J menu from NRT to HEL tonight

Honestly, the breakfast was actually really good - the main so la la. Crew was also not super attentive.

I have flown this product multiple times now but the soft service is in steady decline unfortunately. Also, the amentiy kit now only consists of a tooth brush, ear plugs and eye mask - that’s it.

Having said that, I do love the hard product and had a solid 9 hours sleep.

In the Schengen Platinum Lounge now which is very nice.

I'm flying with them for the first time next year - think I'll be travelling with a bag of snacks! Shame about the decline in quality of the soft product.

Totally agree with you. The food pre-covid was great and it is no where near that standard now. However I love the hard product and, lets face it, I will jump at any excuse to visit Helsinki!

Last year I flew with my then 14 month old in the Finnair airlounge seat SIN-HEL, then HEL-SEA a couple of months later. It went really well, and he sat in the spacious seat with me the whole time.

I've just booked another trip for us in March next year. He'll be 3 then, so I got him his own seat. Flying out of HKG this time, I assume the HKG-HEL is also equipped with the airlounge seats

I'm much more nervous about flying with a 3 year old than a 14 month old. Flying SYD-HKG in Y onboard QF first, then 4 hours later boarding the AY J flight to Helsinki.

I'm currently potty training him but I'm tempted to put it off so he doesn't need the toilet all the time 😂

Has anyone flown in these seats with a toddler in their own seat? Car seat doesn't fit them

----

Edit: Found QSuites BNE-DOH-OSL so I cancelled my QF CR booking and booked QR J instead. I think it's a much better option as the dividers between seats can be collapsed, whereas in Finnair airlounge there's a big wide divider between seats which might prove stressful for him.

Assuming we can get the right seats, we should be able to share sleeping space like this? It'll be my first time in QSuite

We as a family did QF295 back in July. Daughter (16) did not like the seat prefers QF A330 seat. My partner and I thought comfort for sleeping was good, though I found the footwell cramped (middle pair I'm 180cm) I did not like the padding in the seat itself felt too firm and not forgiving, constantly had to move around to prevent a numb backside but that's okay as I do like to lounge in odd positions. I found the pillows were adequate. Overall would go again without hesitation.

I'd dump Finnair for QSuites too! Good find. And yes, if you can get those middle seats facing backwards you'll be like in the picture.

Yep was able to grab two backwards facing seats.

I know not everyone loves the new Finnair seats. If I was less mobile, I imagine it could be tricky sliding down into the seat. Being on the shorter side has its advantages when it comes to travel

After all that back-and-forth I still ended up in the Finnair AirLounge seats for the return trip on SIN-SYD as the QF292 is one of the Finnair wet lease planes, I think. But it's only a ~8 hour flight so here's hoping it goes well. He'll be a seasoned traveler by then

After forever, I’ve finally had the chance to try this seat on HEL-BKK, which I think is long enough to get a good feel for both sleeping and seated positions.

I was in the right window bulkhead (2L on the A350), and I think that if you don’t mind being closer to the galley/toilets, it’s absolutely the best seat in the cabin. I think that’s the general sentiment in this thread anyway 😁

I do think that row 1 is inferior, as you are slightly closer to the galley, and the bathrooms open into you, which means that light spills out whenever someone goes in/out.

The leg cavity is much bigger and longer than the other seats - the FAs let me have a look at a “regular” seat on the way out, and I think I would struggle to sleep (I’m 185cm and have very long legs).

Here’s a picture of the leg cavity with bedding for scale. In the other seats the bedding sits much more snugly.

There’s also a ledge on top of your screen that I used to store stuff within easy reach in-flight.

I have back problems, so I need to “rotate” between side and back sleeping throughout the night. This is the only seat where I felt like both positions were equally good. There’s also a lot of space to spread out.

My main complaint (with the seat, not the entire flight) is that the mattress pad is very thin, and it doesn’t fit the bulkhead seats given the larger leg cavity.

OT - but I just purchased 5 Y seats on AY SIN-HEL. As a QF WP, I was able to select the full range of Y seats at no charge on a refitted A350. I've selected Y comfort seats, as I can raise the armrests and encroach into my kids space. Unexpected bonus!
