First Ashes Test - live TR

We had a bet going for the stumps score - I was off by 7. Pity there was no money attached.

Haddin will try for his century tomorrow after hoping that he and the tailenders can bat out the first hour, given the movement off the pitch this morning - or even better, score the runs in the first hour.

Then we'll see how the bowlers go against the English top order - their top 6 are formidable (particularly under English conditions). A day in the field under hot & humid conditions today should have sapped some of their resolve

I do love the free shuttle buses - hot to Chermside last night and connected to another bus which left me a 600m walk home. Let's be honest, the walk did me good.

Day 2 dawns a bit cloudy, a small breeze and a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday. I'll bet there will be some sunburnt hungover Balmies today.

With the first day of an Ashes Test being members only at the QCC, today is a relaxation of those rules and I have a
guest - one of my clients, a regular (I think it's his 4th year with me).

Now onto the first bus of the day.

image.jpgI still cannot understand why BCC Ferries and Rivercats are excluded from the free travel. Anyway, no parking left in my street as of half an hour ago!

markis10, I need a swivel head to see that photo.

I guess they are trying to increase patronage on the buses - in particular for those that live some distance from the Gabba.

Happy bus driver looked at my QCC membership card and waved me aboard with a grin. Is that a portent??

If we can get over 300 with Haddin his century, I'll be happy. Then it's the bowlers turn

Well not from Harris who dallied with one outside off stump and caught by Prior for 9. Now 9/289 with Haddin on 88

 What the ***** was Haddin thinking when he went for they second impossible run. To add insult to injury he kept running straight to the sheds - he was a good metre out. All put 295, Haddin 94

Looks like a great day - any sign of storms?
Not yet but they'll come from the south - given the best, I know they will come

Really looking forward to our Adelaide test at the (almost finished) Adelaide Oval in early December. It looks stunning. Especially from the Members. :p
Drove around it a couple of weeks ago, hoping to get there one day

Based on the red caps, I know where you are. I'm in the shade just outside the bar on some comfy bar stools. Might see you later.

I started with a water too. But no sun here.

I've now moved to the right of them - at the end of the row above them.

You're a QCC member??

Can you get up here or I get down there? I don't think so? If possible though I'll try a brief catchup. Still lovely in the shade at the outside bar. Have a QantasLink cap on!

A lovely lunch again in the Bradman room:

Both washed down with a bottle of red:

Lunch was a bit downbeat for me, as I was advised of a family illness - still waiting to get the full story, but they are at hospital waiting for an abdominal ultrasound.

I had to only have one red as I may need to go home and drive family around.

Cook and Trott were out during our lunch and just got Pietersen. 3/82

So you must be in the next section. No, there is no joint access. Might not be here for much longer, based on my last post.

Yes! We have been talking about Carberry's lack of confidence with spin and getting cramped with balls around his ribs. Johnson's over was testing him and finally, caught at slip for 40. 4/87

Now we've got a Test Match!!!!! Then Root gives a nervous prod first ball. The crowd has come alive in the post lunch period

I'd be asleep by now if I'd had that for lunch.

Appendicitis maybe?
