A bit surprised to see that QF may be investing more in F, considering it seemed to be on the way out for the airline.

If I could have one change in QF F it would be adding showers - having used them on EK, I think they really help the luxury experience of flying first class. Even having that roomy area to change into/out of the pyjamas and prim yourself nicely makes a world of difference particularly if it's one of the long flagship routes where F is likely to appear. It starts to feel less like mass public transport and more like pampered travelling in style. Showers gets my vote :)

I received the invite, but unfortunately will be flying domestic Y that night - bugger.

Ha! Mrs Rugby received an invite tonight, but she's on the same flight as me that night - she's ticked off because she wanted to meet Princess Fiona :)

And I would have loved to meet Mr and Mrs Rugby :D

Luckily for me I'm flying into SYD earlier that day from MRZ but I know the feeling of missing out on invites due to travelling too much !!!

A proper china teacup would be special. As for the champagne, to regularly run out is just cheap and nasty. Wrong message sent to F passengers.

JAL also ran out of F champagne on our flight, so its not limited to QF. Though maybe the common denominator was us

At least when JAL run out of the $800 Salon 2004 mid flight they bring out the even better $900 Salon 2002!

(Admittedly it doesn't happen on any flight, depends on their loadings)

On ours they bought out the J class Delamotte

Very minor in the scheme of things, but they could make more of an effort with the hot/cold towels.
Wouldn't go amiss in J either.

Minimal cost I would think, but one of those details that differentiates.

+1 to this, the disappearance of hot towels from J is one of the most pathetic bits of penny-pinching QF have done for a while.

On a recent VN flight from SIN to SGN (2 hours) we got given hot towels 3 times. If they can do it I don't see why QF can't.

A suggestion might be to focus a little less on the 'designer' (as in famous designer) and more on the practicalities of the seat. Not everything is automatically 'good' just because it has a designer label attached. The QF F lounges in MEL/SYD however are pretty good design-wise (but it doesn't necessarily translate into the cabin in terms of comfort).

If there's going to be a heavy 'designer' element to the new cabin, perhaps they should - if they haven't already - spend some time flying around on other airlines to see what works. Seat padding, air flow (air vents) etc, all arguably more important that the fabric used to cover the seat.

Better screen resolution for the IFE

Indeed Fiona. Everyone asks for a bigger screen, but that'd simply result in a further degraded picture quality. F already has a big enough screen, but the system's resolution is not good enough to give it proper support. That's why I always bring my iPad Pro loaded with videos that I want to watch, along with my QC25's.

I'm very happy with the food. But a replacement of the wobbly plates and the picnic cutlery is overdue. I think it's Etihad that has some very impressive plates.

I forgot about the wobbly plates!

I'd agree to most suggestions so far esp. bigger TV screen / toilet cubicles [for PJ change], dining on demand etc..

I'd add the followings - in no particular order of importance:

1) USB charging location: at desk/elbow level, not close to the floor 1m away

2) Light Leakage: needs better inoculation against this from surrounding seats [F experience would be diminished if it depends on the good wills of others upon personal requests]

3) Chinaware: SQ sets are more "luxurious" and give you a 5* feeling

4) Customs & Immigration: perhaps an option for a host or a dedicated F line [where .... the explosives swab machine is located] to give you that pampered treatment as not everyone would travel F more than once in their life [some around does it monthly, I am sure]. If possible, that should be extended to the destination airport as well.

5) In toilet cubicles: (a) ensure there are coat hangers, hooks for changing, (b) bin should be foot-operated and (c) a sign on the door "NO BUSINESS CLASS PASSENGERS"

6) Amenities pack: looks tired and jaded, not something I'd look forward to [as a gift to others]*

7) I had occasions when the F host did not call up the day before to enquire about upcoming travel (i.e. spa booking etc...). This needs to be consistent (= 100%) and be pro-active in offering other value-added options e.g. kerb-side reception, limo pick up, Immigration / Customs assistance

8) Baggage: ensure F pax will always receive their items first wherever the destinations may be [SQ does that perfectly in AMS, ZRH, CDG]

9) Wish-list: a leather wallet for boarding pass / passport - branded with QF logo

10) Slippers: difficult to slip on wearing socks and the grey colour is damned right impossible to find at night

11) IFE: more non-Hollywood options perhaps

Had sampled QF, CX, EK, JL, SQ F

*: yes, some would say that's not what it is for. However, after doing a few trips, you'd admit that what you would really be doing.

A leather travel wallet would be rather excellent. The light issue is really relevant - one reason I like EK F is that I can escape from everyone which is a true F experience, especially with the small self selection of drinks in the mini bar.

Industry leading is now 32 inches for tv screens. With resolution to match.

When you start thinking about it there is plenty. I'd prefer more movie choice than a larger screen. Over the previous month I've watched everything I want and some things I didn't want to.

Was on QF12 this morning, just get some basics right, the food refrigeration failed early on so very limited breakfast to a muffin or yogurt, which the crew told me should be ok as it still felt cold, I didn't see anyone take it. (crew very good about it all but my point is don't worry about the size of the tv screen until you have the fridge working!)

Things break down/malfunction..cough happens..just like in the real world 'on terra firma'. And if your 'logic' is that you paid $$$$$$$, then you are living in a fantasy world...cough happens regardless of your 'importance'. I find the 'linking' of tv size to a refrigeration malfunction, in my mind is a bit . If my fridge breaks down at home, it has nothing to do with my tv and it's content:confused:.

As far as movie choice is concerned..well, that's just personal preference, (and determined by what movies are actually made, (which airlines have no control over),and airlines will never please everyone... BYO your preferences and watch on your laptop/device:D. Having said that, I think the First screen size should at the very least, be a few inches larger than QFs new business suites. 32" is ostentatious/pretentious. Just my opinion:)

Size really isn't everything ;)

I would echo this as the biggest consideration:

- light leakage and privacy levels in QF F

I take a lot of high value clients in F/J around the world and even though most prefer to fly QF (as they are AU) and some downright loath Emirates, we tend to end up on Emirates a lot because they offer the option to have a more private F experience with their doors.

QF F I think goes the other way too much - lovely open space but you don't feel like it is 'your' space.

This open space also means if someone is watching a movie it illuminates the whole cabin because the light isn't contained in their own space well enough / the angles aren't quite right to deflect your eye.

Personally I don't really mind - but it's something I've observed with my client base trekking back and forth in F over the last few years.

Hopefully this can be passed on, I would have loved to have gone but I'm afraid I share my F flying around too much ;)

Yes, but 3 out of 4 international flights in the previous 4 weeks didn't have the meal service as advertised, the two earlier ones because of 'industrial action'.

Sure, not as a result of QF loading enough steaks on, but to use your "real world" analogy I have a 75% failure rate on meals from July until now.

Some airlines have better IFE then others, that's a fact. EK IFE is a good example of an industry leading product. QF is not the worst but also not the best out there so there is room for improvement. The attitude of "you will never please everyone" is just defeatism.
