Re: Book the cook suggestions by departure city

Booked my meal out of SIN yesterday, its after all a holiday so I opted for the Lobster for supper and then waffles for breakfast. I dont really fancy hot food so I guess this will be great for me.

Re: Book the cook suggestions by departure city

On my last F flight SIN-MEL, I did BTC and had the Kyo-Kaiseki. It's a multi course cold and hot Japanese served over 3 courses from memory. Not available in J seats and for fans of Japanese, well worth a spin. I matched it with Sake and was a nice change to the standard fare.

Re: Book the cook suggestions by departure city

Hi All,

couple of questions for an upcoming F class redemption HND-SIN-SYD.

1) Is the Kyo-Kaiseki option usually available HND-SIN? I would have thought so but can't find it as a meal option this leg, only SIN-SYD.
2) Is the caviar only available for Suites or for all F flights? Both my flight legs are 773ER (was too slow in booking suites during school holidays; plus gotta leave something to aim for above first class!).

Cheers!

caviar is available for all F class flights provided those flights are 'eligible' for caviar service. Breakfast and supper exclude caviar for example.

Sadly the Kyo-Kaiseki is available from SIN only on flights longer than 2 hours. Seems funny not to be available from Japan but I've stopped trying to work out the world!

Re: Book the cook suggestions by departure city

IMO, that Kyo-Kaiseki option is far inferior to the real deals you may get from Kyoto.

It was bland when I had it - so bland that I would never request it again.

Not recommended !

In contrast, the Nasi Lemak was as good as the real deal and I'd be happy ordering it again. So is the Bak Kut Teh - a Singaporean special !

PS: I go to Japan regularly and always have few courses of authentic Kaiseki in Kyoto on each trip so, yes, I am familiar with what it should be like.

Tried the Indian Lamb Shank Curry on F from SYD-SIN, it was good but the Beef Randang from SIN was a bit disappointed, the meat was over cooked.

My thrill for the week, is our BTC option has become available on our booking. Now I can start over analysing what to order! :)

I ordered Boston Lobster Thermidor out of SYD, Lobster Thermidor with asparagus and potatoes out of LHR, Beef Randang for the final flight SIN to SYD. Am I missing out on anything that is a MUST HAVE? I do love lobster.

Also, is the
Kyo-Kaiseki just the "Japanese Breakfast", or is it specifically labeled? I only had the choice of Standard Meal, Japanese Breakfast, or specific dietary restricted meals. I ordered it for both flights where breakfast had a drop down option.
