I'm just hoping that it is fine in BNE for the next 2 days and the BA discount LHR-BNE sold on 30/11 is 260 pounds.

I saw your "5 for" explanation although it still did not click why it is called a Michelle.

For those a little slow like me and don't want to waste time googling and finding the answer to "why is a "5 for" in cricket referred to by some people as a Michelle?". It is named after Michelle Pfeiffer or simply put a "5fer".

And if you are as slow as me then you need to actually pronounce it as a '5fer" and not a "5 for" to understand the reference.

Sorry to hijack your thread Lindsay....

You have it in one JohnK.

On my way home with my uncle and father (on the buses). Cheap trip home flashing our QCC cards. Thanks BCC

Hmm, I dare not count them, but more than I had on Thursday. Especially when wine has higher alcohol content than lite beer.

You've only just left Flashware?? :D

Waiting at Indooroopilly Shoppingtown for our lift to come and pick us up.

I have indeed, but don't miss it one bit ;)

Enjoying my current maximum temps of 2 degrees with forecast of snow for this weekend

Hmmm.... I was not following the cricket today due to the presentation day for our social golf club and was a little shocked to see the final score of 1/309 for England.

Should Australia be concerned or is this day by England a flash in the pan?

Australia should be concerned. Right now I think this is headed for a draw, unless Australia can get some real attack back, fast.

See what happens when I don't attend the cricket...the Aussies go to seed.

Draw, but a 5 day draw

Not likely to happen as long as Johnson occupies a spot in the team and the lack of a quality test level spinner anywhere in Austalia at present.

Australia truly are awful when they want to be. They couldn't buy a wicket now - if England had a couple of days left I reckon they could get 1000. Why does this happen so often under Ponting? No one seems capable of a wicket.

Johnson has to be dropped for Bolly or Harris I'd say.

Can we really blame Ponting? I think it is the silly mentality of players being able to keep their spot for too long without being challenged to perform and earn their spot in the team.

Regardless of whether Hussey go a century in the 1st innings he should have been dropped a while back, even for 1 match. Before this innings he has averaged 38 in the past couple of years. So does this century guarantee his spot for another year or so if his perfomances continue to be ordinary?

And how Clarke managed to make this team when he was clearly not ready is beyond me. Can anyone justify his 9 runs from 50 balls and tell me he should have been in the team when he is suffering from some sort of injury or chronic condition?

I was reading on Cricinfo that Johnson had never been dropped in his test career. Why? It is not like his bowling average is <23 but is closer to 30. In my opinion that average indicates an average bowler and who's place in the team is not guaranteed.

Steve Waugh, Mark Waugh, Shane Warne, even Ponting all got dropped at some stage for poor form. Doesn't seem to happen any more. Those guys seemed to survive it and come back stronger.

It certainly seems that the pitch is a little more batsman friendly later in the test match :-|

Personality and being part of the in-crowd have a lot to do with test selection ... just ask Dean Jones or Brad Hodge ...

Looks like this will be an interesting test for Strauss - sould he try and put the Aussies back in to bat this afternoon. What would be a safe lead that might incent the Aussies to have a hit and play for something other than a draw?
