Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:


If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Which class? Y looks the lightest on 3/8, W is the lightest on 5/8, J is about the same, F is heavily booked on 5/8.

I'll be in Economy but hoping to either do paid upgrade or be on the least crowded plane if I'm in economy - dates are open for me between 3 4 or 5/8 Cheers
 
Looks like 5/8 is the date i have to go now on QF1 syd to London. Does it appear any possibility of paid upgrade Y saver fare to PE?

I'm not sure whether Y saver is upgradable but make what you can of this:

Relatively low availability in C Cabin overall, combined with the MU codeshare that is zeroed-out in all C Classes.

Thanks - but why does it suggest over-booking and not just four seats available :confused: (not trying to be a pest - just struggling to know how to maximise interpretation of these sorts of tables :)).

QF is willing to sell 5 more seats in the Business Cabin, but the flight may be overbooked, which would explain why MU codeshare is zeroed-out.

Three of our staff booked on QF to LAX in paid Premium Economy were upgraded on points to business class so I was very happy to hear about the upgrades.

So not full, but not empty either. Only way to get guaranteed extra leg room on the 744 is to pay for exit row, there's no equivalent to 71D and 80A/K as in the 388.
 
We paid for 5 premium economy seats and 3 were upgraded from MEL to LAX using points on QF.
No upgrade gods from Sydney nor Brisbane and all 5 are flying home tomorrow so we will see how they go.

Considering that QF will increase capacity to the US very soon I think this exemplifies that they are doing really well on transpacific services.
