PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Starting to wonder whether my flight QF878 (B737-800) CBR-SYD 01 Sep will be cancelled. Of the 26 Y rows (156 seats) I can see at my seat selection page, rows 4 and 5 are blocked and only 6 other seats are u/a. Not a high load factor.

I don't want this flight to be cancelled, as it will affect my time in the Flounge.
I would have thought that more than a day or two out the seat map would not be a good indicator. Many pax would not have selected a seat yet, so they would show as empty until they do.

Hi all

Can anyone give the loadings and upgrade probability for QF36 on 30th September SIN-MEL

Many thanks

I am already in Y :) had put in points upgrade request but looks like QF says no lol as still in Y

Cheers :)

Can anyone shed some light on why there would be more seats available SYD-LHR on QF1 than there are SYD-DXB on QF1 on the same day?

SYD-LHR F3 A2 J9 C0 D0 I0 U0 W8 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 G0 E0
SYD-DXB F3 A1 J7 C0 D0 I0 W6 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

I have checked a few other days and the variance is different each time. Having more availability DXB-LHR I can understand as people get off the QF bird and onto different EK birds to scatter around Europe.

Markets!

OZ-UK is a different market to OZ-DXB. Airlines can and do allocate different availabilities to different markets. Those figures indicate there may have been a better take up of the OZ-DXB market seats on this service than that for the Oz-UK.

The flight looks kind of full in all cabins : J2 C0 D0 I0 W4 R3 E0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0
Yes, other OW airlines can see your status. As a WP you can select almost any seat directly on CX website, but for some seats you have to call (exit row and some bassinet seats). In your case you could call CX and ask for seat 30A or 30C (more legroom), but these are bassinet seats.

As for up-op...you can never predict an up-op!;)

Can someone please give me an update for this - CX138 today.

I guess that is the black art of yield management. Just so I have this right, F3 A2 as shown above means there is at least 3 seats available for sale in F bucket and at least 2 available in A, but not necessarily 5 seats available at the front of the plane? Could be four spare seats left in first.

It mean Qantas are willing to sell at least 3 seats in F.

See the "Understanding Expert Flyer" link in the First post of this thread.

A week and a half out from flying SYD-LAX on QF11.

An upgrade requested from J -> F about two months ago in for two pax under my FF status - WP.

Looking good or expect a last minute rush for F?

F9/A6 a week before the flight is pretty much as good as you can get! Just hope there's not 9 CL and WP-1 ahead of you in the queue!

Looking good I would say.
Why would someone select 3F in an empty cabin :?:
