PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

So I shouldn't even bother crossing my fingers?

I am new to this but should I assume the flight has been over sold and make sure I check in early so we don't get bumped?

At T-59 (&1:11am this morning!!), my Y+ to J points upgrade on QF11 came through. First points UG at more than 24hrs pre-departure since chauffeur drive was introduced (& then taken away).

i don't think I'll have that luck on my return on QF16 on Halloween. It seems to be booked out in J from what I can tell.

With Flightstats removing flight availability are there any other free versions out there to look up flight availability?

So me and my new wife just got a text confirming our upgrade to J for this trip for our honeymoon!!! not expected at all, I don't know how we fluked this? especially being a NB!!!

I don't think so. The $100 USD I pay annually for my EF subscription is worth every cent. It's a small fraction of what I spend on travel and I couldn't do without it.

The annual subscription has more avaliable tools.

That's true, and if I was flying more I would no doubt take it up. But for flight availability, looking for award seats, and checking seat maps, I get a good return from the monthly subscription.

QF 8 on 29 Oct - would someone plse tell me how a Y to J is looking? I think Y+ has been oversold for weeks.

Many thanks, and sorry, I may need interpretation too. ;)

Here it is. Hard to tell, premium cabins are quite full.

Thanks defurax, what does it mean for a Y to J? Opps just saw the bit in the middle about it being hard to tell.
Looking at the loading it's possible that J4 and C3 means QF is prepared to fill the F cabin with J fares. In that case the J cabin is already full and no upgrades will be processed. As I said, hard to tell...

Just looking at seatmap, there are only 3 seats allocated in F (with 2 blocked, 9 open), but none open in J/W (6 blocked and the rest allocated in J, and 1 blocked and the rest allocated in W). So perhaps it depends on upgrade/opups to F flowing through to J as long as W is no too oversold.

Seat maps hard to tell as you may just have a bunch of pax who don't bother selecting seats.

Albeit having blocked seats often suggests some free seats
