PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I am on QF31 SYD-SIN on 13 Jan. Would someone please be able to check the loading for this flight?

Am currently in J and prepared to op up to F if required. On Checkmytrip.com there are only a couple of J seats vacant so I can only hope.

Thanks

I would say NO Chance at all for OP-Up.

10 F seats pre-allocated, 3 blocked and 1 'open' .

Why don't you re-route via MEL and join the 5 on the JQ7 party flight :p

Thanks serfty, appreciate the very quick response. I've got 12E so a good seat anyway.

Hmm go on the Jet* party plane. Sounds tempting NOT!!.

As is often mentioned I am very prepared and happy to fly in my booked class. I will enjoy the F lounge on Thursday.

QF20 - MNL-SYD: J0 C0 D0 I0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

Not many J seats preallocated (7 of 30) so there'll probably be quite a few upgrades.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

If you can tell me where QF20 flies to/from I can do that for you.

Sorry Bill. QF20 MNL>SYD

Thanks Serfty. I was told it was chokers including J/C/D (apparently they don't offer I class anymore which I had originally booked in). I snared a discount WhY. Question now is whether I should put in points for upgrade to J or take a chance for Ops Up? Only SG these days.

Correct my rationale if I am wrong.
If what my TA says is correct that all classes are chokers, then putting in for a points upgrade is of no use. On the other hand, if what Serfty see i.e. not many J seats are preallocated, and that there will probably be a few upgrades, then it is better not to put in a points upgrade which is looking good at the moment. So to answer my own question, don't put in a points upgrade and take a chance for ops up. Comments?

QF3977 J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9

not too full I would say

Taking QF out of the query for QF20 on 27th Jan I see:
  • J0 C0 D0 I0 U0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0
The PR flight a short time later is also all 0's.

Personally, I would put up the 40K QFF points and request an upgrade. That should put you ahead of most WP's looking for op-ups. (Of course, this depends upon what you want to use points for.)

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

QF31 on Jan 16.
No EF for me, but FlightStats currently says:
F5 A5 P0 J7 C0 D0 I0 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Another question prompted by curiosity:

Today (presumably since T-80 or somesuch time), availability has appeared for Y
F2 A2 J1 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B2 H1 K1 M0 L0 G0 E0

Availability for F, A, J had been dropping gradually over the last week, and now Y availability has appeared.
Would this be from points upgrade requests being processed and actioned?

Thanks serfty. Yeah, will put in the points for upgrade.

Thanks also to ozmille!

Today (T-80 hours) is still a little early for upgrade requests to be processed. Upgrade requests are usually processed in the last 24 hours and more than likely ~5 hours before flight.

What may be happening on this flight is that QF is overselling economy with the view of issuing op-ups.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Can somebody please check availability on the following flights, always the 64,000 question, do I upgrade or do I chance the op up??

QF011, 28th Jan 11 Syd - LAX
AA6141, 11th Feb 11 JFK - Heathrow
QF 010, 13th Feb 11 Heathrow to Melbourne (both legs)

Thanks in anticipation,
