PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Thanks for the info,

Looks empty, at least I shouldn't need to fight for a good seat :)

QF25 6 Feb (AKL-LAX) , QF26 9th Feb

I couldn't find these flights on Flightstat - maybe New Zealand doesn't figure for them.

I'm trying to work out my chances of Points upgrade from Discount Economy to Business if anyone has access to availability or can point me to another availability tool.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I am stuck in FRA and my schedule flight out is on 20/1/11 but i would like to get out either 18/01 or 19/01 and would need to fly back to MEL. I am wait listed on FRA to SYD and FRA TO MEL.

Can some one please check the availability and what are my chances to get confirmed?

I am traveling in economy

Thanks a lot

seems like a pretty empty flight at the moment. They are still selling I class.

Thanks for that Mille

I'll live in hope for QF026 on the 9th Feb. I don't know whether to book an exit row seat or not - does anyone have any view on whether QF would be more or less likely to upgrade me (using points) if I have already booked an exit row using points ?

AFAIK when they look at the list of pax for an OP-UP they wouldn't exclude anyone who happens to be in an exit row. They would be pretty busy so they may not necessarily notice where everyone is seated in Y they'd just do it.

In my experience, op-ups are often (but not always) about moving people around to make a block of seats available for a group/family to sit together. In that case, they tend to look for status passengers to upgrade that will result in soe adjacent seats being freed. That may not necessarily mean the highest status passenger or the passenger on the highest fare is selected.

But certainly the case of getting another single passenger onto the flight at the last minute will be as you describe. But many of my op-ups have been actioned well before check-in (international flights) so the computer has had plenty of time to think and plan who is going to win the lottery that day.

There is a difference between a likely oversold situation and trying to get a group seated 'contiguously'.

The first situation can be easily assessed using "The Computer" (AKA, the Altéa "Proactive Onload" facility).

Even with the latter, reference should still be made where possible to "the computer" when doing this.

Another QFF Upgrade/ExpertFlyer Thread

Hi guys,

Just a quick question on behalf of a friend flying back from SIN tomorrow (They think I am an expert with everything alrines however I dont know anywhere near as much as they think. I have helped them sorting out a QFF credit card so that must make me an expert!)

They are flying into australia on QF82 leaving SIN on the 21st and have requested an upgrade into business with points and want to know what their chances are.

I have looked on qantas and there are no economy or business seats avaliable for sale online.

After looking i have found the website expertflyer so have signed up for the trial.

Expertflyer shows 1 business seat as avaliable (strange that qantas.com shows no seats) and 6 business seats are "blocked"

I have been looking around and found people talking about "Q-blocked" but i cant seem to find what this may mean.

What would I tell them that their chances of an upgrade are?

I think they are a QFF Silver member

Re: Another QFF Upgrade/ExpertFlyer Thread

Given the number of single seat blocks in Y (generally indicating Platinum/Gold members), and let's say 50% of those want points upgrades. I'd rate the chances around 20%.

Many other factors though such as fare class and other people on the aircraft.

His best chance is to check in with a spare seat next to him as there's plenty of those!

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi all,

I'm flying in J class for this sector and wanted your thoughts on any potential upgrades, whats the load like-

17/2- MEL to HKG QF29

1/3- HND to HKG CX549

Flying Y

27/2- HKG to NRT CX504

Thanks in advance

17Feb MEL-HKG:
F3 A3 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S7 G0 E0

Wide open in J and W, not so for F and Y.

01Mar HND-HKG
F4 A4 J9 C9 D9 I8 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9
Looks open.

27Feb HKG-NRT:
J9 C9 D9 I6 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0
Looks busy in Y.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

 They are offering F on QF29/30 again now obviously.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I know it is a long way away but someone please post flight availability for

QF010 SIN-MEL 16 Jun 2011
QF009 MEL-SIN 14 Oct 2011
QF031 SYD-SIN 14 Oct 2011

More importantly I need to know if 80A, 80K or 71D are unallocated. What is bulkhead in economy like on the QF A380? From memory bulkheads were hard to get last year. Are bulkheads where the bassinets are located?

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi there

We're traveling SYD-HNL on JQ3 on 24 Feb 2011 and returning JQ4 HNL-SYD 3 Mar 2011.

Is anyone able to tell whether on ODU is likely based on how busy Y and *C will be?

Am I asking too early? Should I wait until a week out?

Thanks, Lan
