Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

It could depend upon your booking class.

Currently showing F3 A3, so chances for a points upgrade are possible but slim (depends on how many WPs are in front of you, how many SGs have already requested an upgrade, and what QF is feeling like on the day)

I would say you have no chance of an op-up at checkin: WPs / CLs would be first in line, and the flight is showing J9, so probably still a fair few J seats available.

Points upgrade at checkin isn't possible AFAIK (never say never, but no one's ever reported it happening)

A favour if I might please?

Can someone who has access to Expert Flyer check the loadings on QF81 ADL - SIN on Tuesday 8th Feb and QF 82 SIN - ADL on 20th Feb please. I used to use Seatcounter and Class Availability but these don't seem to work now and I don't fly enough (now) to purchase Expert Flyer.

Are there any "freebies" that do work?

Hi all, have purchased PE tix (2) for Syd - Johanasberg QF063 Feb 25th
Have put in for Qff upgrade only bronze status but due 2 medical reasons am really hoping on upgrade coming thru. Is there anyway to see how many business seats left? Also has paying for PE seat helped at all my chances? Flight back is QF 064 March 3rd have requested this also. I would really appreciate having some idea if it's even a possibilty

Might be worth checking if your medical reasons need clearance for travel. If in doubt contact QF res and ask to be transferred to Special Handling who will liaise with your GP or Specialist.

Will do, nothing to dramatic prone to blood clots, ok to fly with the precautions all done. Extra room makes big difference and sleep helps also, just wish I could know how my chances of upgrade are going :-|

The T ticket certainly may help based on a school of thought that booking class within status level is one of the criteria in pecking order.

It means there are at least 9 seats that qantas are willing to sell, although D class may indicate a little more.

Curious about how full Economy is in V-Australia flight on April 05th. We are booked in VA29 in Fare class G :?: Dunno what that means. (for someone who has done plenty of travelling across the globe I really know very little about flying)
