PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi Guys/Gals .. first post

Just wondering if you are able to look at domestic flights as well? im booked on QF932 SYD- CNS on 5th march

I guess my real question is what are the chances that they will allow an upgrade from Economy to Business? i managed to get the first flight of the trip upgraded CNS-MEL but when the flight home is showing "upgrade not available"

seems to be award business seats available though, is it worth calling them up and asking?

I can see 3 business upgrade/award seats on that flight. There's no reason I can think of why you can't upgrade unless your ticket is in a class that doesn't allow upgrades (E, N, O, Q). X is also not allowed unless booked as an any seat award.

Thanks for that, they are O - but so was the CNS-MEL flight that was upgraded

The SYD-CNS upgrade option was there when i did the CNS-MEL upgrade, but was having second thoughts so left it for a day, now its gone

Aah, that would be the upgrade promotion that was valid until the 24th.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

BUGGER!!! ... knew i should have done it (it was the 24th when i first logged in)

stupidly for me the return flight would have been the more important one to do - going to be "travelling" from 5am that day until i get home at 10pm

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

My own policy is the minute I see the domestic upgrade confirm box pop up (as opposed to the usual upgrade seat not available) I upgrade.

Waiting even 5 minutes can result in loss of seat.

Lesson learnt ... luckily i made work pay for the upgrade to S so that i can do a points upgrade

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Chances of upgrade to F on QF 94
4th March ? EF showing availability in F9 A4 J6 Y7 B2 all others 0
Upstairs J cabin full on QF, even my coveted row 16  I am currently in 16A so won't we too upset if not. I have a points upgrade request lodged at exactly 90 days before fare class D

50% I reckon, let us know. Got an F seat in mind?

It's looking good so far, 16A is now blocked not occupied on EF. Manage my booking shows me in 4A :D Not my favourite seat but I'm sure I can handle it tonight ;) Oddly the points haven't been deducted yet and the upgrade is still showing as requested. I'm assuming that will happen some time today. They are still selling F seats so I assume this new seat is actually F

Well done!

4A not bad, what does the forum think?? A was the good row if I recall ?

You can do a switch a roo at the lounge if necessary.

Happy landings!

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi

I am hoping that someone may be able to give me some details on the following 2 flights.

CX 178 13 Mar MEL HKG
CX 135 16 Mar HKG MEL

I am wondering what the flight is looking like across all classes...trying to determine if I will try for an upgrade, or if no chance of that may not travel at all as I am currently in Y (V Class)

Thanks

Thanks was indeed 4A, nearly missed the flight thanks to AA MIA-LAX late departure. 2 second shower ( + quick glass of Taittinger) in TBIT prior to departure. Well worth the points as 15.40hrs flight. Scored an extra amenity kit and PJ's for my mum :D

Good. I believe that is the best value for points, a J or F upgrade on a bloody long flight.

If you are WP you have a reasonable chance.

Nah not quite. I'm LTG and about 150 off WP for this year

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi there just wondering if there are many award upgrade seats from Y+ to J on QF009 2/07/2011 and returning on QF010 on 15/07/2011. Sounds like this recent J sale has this flight chokkers.
Many thanks for your help...

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Hi Plegrand - I think it is a little early to be considering upgrade seats for a July flight as a lot could change between now and then.
