PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

WP/SG have slight chance. PS/NB, probably not.

Nov 4th? That's a long way out - and normally hard to determine a general trend.

However, not in this case:

J9 C9 D9 I1 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L0 V9 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

That pretty well sold in economy with few discount buckets available.

For ongoing loadings, please see tip in post #1.

Thanks - were these number for November 4th? Or Nov 10th?

If the 4th, I actually needed JQ4 on Nov 10?

(Perhaps also JQ3 on Nov 1st?)

Sorry for being a PITA (posting in the wrong thread initially etc)

Thanks, looks like I'll risk it and wait a while before booking. No sale currently!

So would this indicate that the upgrade has been successful, or is this what you get when you request a J upgrade with fallback to Y+?

Interesting!

I have never seen both upgrade requests noted.

When both a J request and a PE request are submitted I have seen only the PE memo. I have never asked for a PE only upgrade so don't know if the same thing was shown in that circustance. Most recentl last month.

Maybe they have changed things to make it more obvious what has been requested.

It's only been like that for the last hour or so.

I had originally asked for a Y+ upgrade only, but when I saw there was less than 5 seats available for sale on the flight, I cancelled that upgrade and changed it to a J upgrade with fallback to Y+.

Even after I cancelled the Y+ upgrade, there was only a single MEL-SIN segment indicating I had requested a Y+ upgrade. Only about a hour or two ago did I see that there was now 2 segments in the same booking for MEL-SIN.

Have a look at your booking on www.checkmytrip.com , If they are not yet processing upgrades for the flight (as I would expect) you should see only the one confirmed segment.

If they ARE processing upgrades you may see an additional "waitlisted" segment.

Could you please help with the loadings of

QF5 (SYD-SIN only) on 06 May; and

QF5 (SIN-FRA only) on 21 May?

Thank you so much!

Hi,

I've recently joined and would like to get an upgrade from Economy to Bus on our next trip to Europe, probably Sep / Oct 2012, but maybe earlier. Does anyone have any idea of availability at present?

All comments gratefully received.

If you're looking for Y->J points upgrades, SYD-SIN is moar or less a given but SIN-FRA isn't as likely.

Hi les.harvey, welcome to AFF! :)

Unfortunately it's basically impossible to gauge an upgrade this far out - you would also need specific flights in mind. Do also note that flights are generally only available for sale up to a year out, and airplane loading crystal balls tend to be foggy until around 3-4 weeks out from the flight.

thanks for that, much appreciated, I'll monitor the thread to get a feel for the likelihood of success.

With those loadings, the best you could hope for is a row of 4 seats to yourself - that flight is nearly empty - G class what!. :p

Cheers for that opinion :)

I only chose BA15 as the last same flight (Oct 10) we got op-uped to J so I am hoping the luck continues!!

PS. As a seat guide, every economy seat is available for me to pre-allocate except the last 4 rows in the centre.

Hi Berlin,

Welcome to AFF. :D

Expert Flyer shows no P class availability, so you may be out of luck. :(

I seem to have been very lucky indeed then as I ended up in 1K on my flight yesterday. A truely heavenly experience, definitely worth the points! :D

Looking at opinions on upgrade/op-up chances for QF667 BNE-ADL this Friday 29 April. Got me (WP) and family (3xNB).

Been watching Expert Flyer. All Y class down to S are sitting on 9, D and J are 5. Between yesterday and today S went from 3 to 9 and N went 0 to 9. Not exactly suggesting an oversell of economy. The family is in row 4 already, I'm slumming it in row 5. This should be ok for SWMBOs fear of flying but J would be better for her. ;)

Anyway, hoping that 4 U appear as they did on QF661 on the same day. Would love any opinions.
