PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Probably looking for loadings, but that's just a wild stab.

I agree but just thought it would have been polite to ask for assistance. The request was a tad on the arrogant side for me

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Wasn't intended as being arrogant. I was just after the loadings. Thanks.

May have been better to have asked as in

Hi can anyone please give me the loadings etc.

You wouldn't I presume talk like that to a person I suspect you would have been more polite and engaging :D

Tough sometimes in this day and age where touch devices encourage brief if not terse posts.

I agree serfty it just annoys me that in so many aspects of our lives these days there seems to be a dire lack of civility, respect, manners and common courtesy.

Sorry to go off topic,

I didn't mean to ruffle feathers. I kept my post brief and to the point so not to waffle in this thread.

I do apologise for not making it clear I was after loadings. I did say 'thanks in advance' at the end of my original post. When I typed the message earlier it definitely was not in an arrogant or rude tone from this end.

Thanks for the speedy response anyway.

Cheers.

As good as EF is, be mindful that it supports a much more limited number of airlines for award search. I had KVS, but I wasn't impressed with the requirement for a Windows machine. When my KVS subscription run out, I signed up for EF, but was shocked to learn how many airlines are missing from its award search.

Many KVS Tool Members run it on their favourite Mac machines:

But that means each individual flight needs to be searched separately (versus KVS that can search various airlines and various days till it finds space).
Actually, it means that an Award Availability search for an unsupported airline won't work at all (regardless of how you try to search for it).

I'm all ears, as I am stuck with EF for the next 11 months or so... :-)
It certainly does not need to be that way ;)

It certainly does not need to be that way ;)

With all due respect, as long as you believe having to run a virtual machine inside a host (i.e. VmWare inside Mac) constitutes a native application, running KVS under Mac remains a PITA. Just as an example, every time I (used to) run KVS, my next automatic TimeMachine backup would take hours as it needed to back up gigabytes of virtual machine which had been changed simply by firing up VmWare.

I would happily pay for KVS again if/when there is a (native) Mac version.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Can I be cheeky and ask if anyone could check the loads for my flight? Qf63 Syd-JHB on 15 August. PE to J upgrade requested.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

I'm not very knowledgeable about these things but I think having some D and I fares would be better. Probably just stating the obvious now.
