PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

So if I'm understanding this it means 4 seats available in the F cabin, 7 in the J cabin and plenty in Y, so little to no chance of op-up from J to F. ....
It specifically means that EK are prepared to sell at least 4 First Cabin seats and at least 7 Business cabin seats.

Given A4 and I7 (discounted classes) I suspect there are much more than 4 or 7 seats for sale in those cabins.

It's subscription based, and when you say you have the "basic" subscription, I suspect it's the free one, which gives you the screen you have attached. The "premium" version has a lot more options, and costs something like $100 USD per year. Some of us use it a lot and is good value, but others who would only use it, say, once or twice every few months, you have this thread.

Hi - I do use it a fair bit, and I do have a paid subscription, though I pay it monthly (US$4.99) rather than annually. Checking my EF account just now, I have the Basic subscription... there is another above that called Premium, which is what I figure might be the difference with what I can see vs. what defurax posted. I can run 250 queries per month, and can run seat alerts / look-ups on the app. As I can access the fare availability on a regular browser within that query alloction, I thought it strange I couldn't on the on the mobile. Anyway - no big drama!

EDIT: Found this link comparing the two subs: http://www.expertflyer.com/frequent-flyer-programs ... might be time to look at upgrading

Cheers,
Matt.

Ah, that explains it very well. I figured I would use more than 250 queries per month so I went for the premium version from the start. Although I suppose if you have no use for the extra features, it's quite a bit of money to pay for a mobile interface.

Gold AFF members can get a 15% discount on a subscription -(I think one per year) - I use mine on an annual premium, bringing it down to USD85. I recently renewed and it came through on my Amex at AUD118.

Great value for me at $10 per month.

Can anyone estimate the availability of a points upgrade on QF8 2/10 or 3/10 from premium econ to business?

Cheers.

Thanks for the explanation. BTW no op-up. :( but EK lounge is OK.

It is a bit early to assess this really, in that expert flyer only gives a limited availability (ie. shows up to 9 seats per category, but it could be quite a few more).

However, here are the two days in question:

2/10: F9 A4 J9 C9 D0 I0 W9 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 G0 E0
3/10: F9 A6 J9 C9 D6 I0 W9 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0 E0

D6 on 3/10 could indicate slightly better chance at this point, but these numbers are likely to change quite a bit over the next 2 months if QF runs discounts, promotions etc to sell a few more seats.

So am wondering how many people have ever got a 4 pax upgrade to J? We are travelling in PE on QF1 on 30 August. EF shows 15 free J seats in the seat map and the below loadings. Interesting that it shows 4 free seats in PE (including the bassinet seats that are blocked) but are willing to sell 5 currently. Thoughts?

I'd hazard a guess of unlikely considering Silver but you never know.

Thanks Colster. We'll keep hoping to the gate!!!!
He's returning qf 64 on 25th august JNB to SYD but will probably need to check closer to the time.

There were indeed many vacant seats in F and J. I think only 2 of the 8 suites in F were occupied and maybe 10 of the 42 J seats.
