PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Thank you, and I didn't realise Expert Flyer wanted origin/destination - I'll definitely include them next time.

Looks like a fairly light load.

Happy to help. If you're trying for an upgrade you might be in luck!

It would be very helpful if people could put the route in their requests.
Expert Flyer requires the departure, destination and date to do a query, and we need the flight number to know which results to report to you.
It would be easier if we didn't have to do preliminary research to find these details.

Apologies for incomplete info - trying again
qf1 SYD - LHR 4 december and
qf2 LHR - SYD 3 january.

WP hoping for upgrade from y to J or PE on both legs. request in the system since mid June
thanks in anticipation

Exactly the point I made upthread. It would be useful if a Mod could incorporate this requirement into the thread title.

I've checked expert flyer but would like interpretation of the findings. I'm hoping for an overbooked Y to spill into J to bump us to F. :eek. Cheeky.

F4 A4 = 4 tickets available in First Class (Same 4 showing in different fare buckets)
J7 C7 I7 = 7 tickets available in Business
O7 = 7 tickets available as Business flex awards (as above, not an additional 7 business seats)
P0 = no tickets available in this first class fare bucket
Y9 E9 R9 = at least 9 tickets available in these economy fare buckets
W9 = at least 9 seats available as economy flex awards
M9 B9 U9 K9 = at least 9 tickets available in these economy fare buckets
H0 = no tickets available in this economy fare bucket
Q9 = at least 9 tickets available in this economy fare bucket
L0 T0 V0 = no tickets available in these economy fare buckets
X0 = no tickets available for economy awards booked with points from a partner airline's frequent flyer programme
Missing/not reported - D (business saver awards and upgrades) and N (economy saver awards and upgrades)

I don't know any way to tell how many economy tickets are available - it's more than 9.

So for your dreams to come true you need at least 16 plus the number of people in your booking more people to book in economy and business.
At least 9 to fill the empty seats in economy, another 7 to fill the empty seats in business, and then extra pax to push you up into the F cabin.
Oh but of course they will push any higher status Skywards members up first, so you need to hope there are fewer than 4 of these in the J cabin!
Does EK offer upgrades at check in? I know from experience with EY that emiratis tend to opt for this rather than try to uprade online.
So the empty seats in F may well disappear at the last minute!
Or - even if the Y cabin is not full, you might be pushed upwards by PAX wanting to upgrade from Y to J.

I tried not to cry as I stood at CDG recently and watched my stand-by seat in F disappear as emiratis queued to upgrade.
Luckily a pax booked in F was a no show and I was cleared to board at the last minute!

* Disclaimer - EK has recently changed the way it codes its tickets and I am not sure if these fare bucket designations are all current.

Thanks eeesy<>. Strange it isn't more heavily booked in Y over the holiday period. As WP we've had a lot of joy with Emirates upgrading us but think thats because of overbooking in Y/J. Happy with J but another F upgrade would be bliss.
