PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

So they will have a strong motivation to shift pax out of Y.
Unfortunately you may be down the list as you are on a reward Y booking - but this is new, and I don't know how they make these choices.

Just updating, no upgrade on this flight. Probably best outcome, was extra 58K points for 1 way lol

Every other transtasman flight for this airline is full between MEL/SYD and AKL

I took this flight twice in the last week. Several J seats available up until the day of flight then started disappearing (presumably upgrades, but also noticed a few travelling staff). I was lucky to get an empty seat next to me both times.

Hi guys,

Slightly OT but I'm wondering about the possibility and best way of a paid upgrade to the second leg of an upcoming flight ie AUH- PER.

VA7042Q 20OCT Q DUB AUH*HK2 930A 820P
VA7199Q 20OCT Q AUH PER*TK2 1020P 110P

Flight was booked via an intermediary website, and is Etihad operated.

I just did PER-AUH-DUB and naturally was not invited to bid for an upgrade by Etihad.

Capacity for the initial flights in economy seemed at about 60% for both legs and left me wondering if business would have been full for the flights.

Have I any chance of trying to organise a paid upgrade, and if so it is best through phoning Virgin or Etihad a few days before, or trying at check in?

Many thanks.

Can someone please give me the loadings for QF127 SYD>HKG on Sunday Oct 16th? Many thanks.

Hi Ric,

what cabin are you flying in and do you have tier status?

I think your chances are non existent. The airline is still selling 1 seat in J, no seats for sale in PE, and "sale" fares still exist in Y.
Additionally all the premium seats in Y are occupied as well.

Hi Quickstatus,

Many thanks!! Flying in flexible Y and had put in request months ago for both J or down to PE and also at gate. Dropped to SG now.
I think that you are most correct to say that my chances are non-existence! :(

Hello there, can someone please check loading on QF12 LAX to Sydney on Monday 17th October?

Thanks you
