PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Sorry! Was meant to say any chance of a seat map at this late stage? I'm in Premium Eco and looking to go to Business but haven't heard and I'm well within the 24hr window for a points upgrade:(

Thanks again!

Thanks QuickStatus, you're a legend! Was worth a look. It's strange that Qantas still shows seats in Business for sale. I guess that's the one in J. Are you able to provide QF96 on the 11th of Jan?

It's strange that Qantas still shows seats in Business for sale. I guess that's the one in J.

The airline is still selling 2J at the "Business Flex" rate.
The PE front row is fully occupied suggesting that high status passengers are occupying those - meaning your competition for 1-2 free J (assuming these are up for grabs) is very intense. Note capacity controls may still be in play so seemingly vacant J seats may not actually be available especially when the airline thinks it can sell J seats at the most expensive rate.

Jan 11 QF96 LAX-MEL (B747 refurbished)
A bit better especially when there are two flights LAX-MEL - the other is the A380 QF93. Additionally midweek departures are better

I suspect your chances will be better. Upstairs 747 is full so if you do get an upgrade it will be on the main deck and in the centre rows of 3.

Looks pretty full in Y, but still some space in the premium cabins.

Re: Points upgrade tomorrow?

Hi all,

I'm on QF93 tomorrow in Premium Economy and generally try to use my points to upgrade to Business....
I would suggest your chances of an upgrade are minimal:

Available Classes: F1 A0 J1 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K0 M0 L0 G0

Hi all

Hoping to get views on:
Upgrade from Red E-Deal fare (E)
QF433 SYD to MEL 26 Jan - A330-200
QF432 MEL to SYD 29 Jan - B737-800

I haven't put in the request yet, still wondering whether it is worth it. But would be interested to know likelihood of success. Upgrade is 10,000 points each pax, 2 pax on booking, I am SG and other pax is Bronze.
Have secured exit row seats on both flights which I am happy with for the short hop.

Thanks

The first flight, QF 433 is as follows: J9 C9 D0 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L0 G0

Sadly QF432 on 29/1 shows J0.

Just put in the request for QF433 - is now showing as Requested, so did not come through immediately, not surprising given that I bucket is zero I guess.
Now have to wait and see what happens on the day, fingers crossed.

As I understand it, if there is U (award) availability then you get the upgrade approved immediately. If not, it can go down to the wire (or gate) and is heavily affected by status and other applicants.

Thanks OATEK

Looking at it in another system, I'd say your chances were good, but it's still a relatively long way away.

Thanks @kermatu very much appreciated. This seems better than I was expecting. However I still don't think they will come through as we are travelling as a family of 4. Fingers crossed obviously.
