PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

It's T-38 until my QF9

Am I right that WP upgrades have been done now (T-72) so the above loading is what we are looking at for gold, silver and NB upgrade requests?

There are still quite a few F seats at least.

As far as WP upgrades are concerned, Qantas say: "where possible, [WPs will] have their successful International upgrade requests confirmed from up to 48 hours prior to departure". I have had plenty of requests confirmed ahead of T-48, but usually no earlier than T-60. Confirmation within the final 24 hours has happened plenty of times, as well. Lots of factors at play behind the scenes.

Cheers,
Matt.

Your help is much appreciated!

Need help to check seat availablity with flight redemption

Dear members, I need some help from you guys regarding a flight redemption booking between ADL - HGH in 2017. The trip is for 2 adults and 2 children (both over 2 years).

the outbound dates are around 23/9/17 and inbound dates are around 23/10/17, pretty much one week earlier and one week after school holidays.

the outbound search is pretty easy with plenty seats and dates available, but on the way home is another story.

the only date is available is 21/10/17 with 2 seats, although i can go on waitlist, but have no control or checking the seating on that date.

Are there any members able to see the booking status for that date and able to advise me the chances of getting off the waitlist? or even a few dates before and after 21/10/17

Many thanks.

Re: Need help to check seat availablity with flight redemption

It would help if you mentioned what flights in particular you're looking at, as well as the class of travel. I'm assuming that you're looking for Cathay/Dragonair flights via HKG and in economy.

As far as I can see, KA621 & CX173 are pretty much empty so far on 21/10/17 (in both classes). It's a similar story on 19, 22 and 24 October. I'd say waitlisting would likely result in getting the seats, but can't say for sure.

Also, FWIW, I can currently see 4x Y award seats available for KA621/CX173 from HGH-HKG-ADL departing 19 or 22 October.

Do you need to fly Cathay? Assuming that you're using Asia Miles, you would have access to seats on other oneworld airlines (even though you may need to ring up to book). If you can't get a direct HKG-ADL flight you should be able to find award availability via KUL, flying Malaysia Airlines from KUL to ADL.
