PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

This is the seat map, with 5 unallocated in F, and about 16 unallocated in J.

I tend to work off the availability rather than seat maps. In this case the map shows 5 seats, however there may be 3 PAX and one reason or another have not yet selected a seat. Alternative QF may have held some back but would not have thought so for F 48 hours out.

Below is the seat map from the same flight but as the codeshare AA(QF) 7349 showing, 2 blocked seats.

Maybe 3 PAX on the codeshare who have not selected seats, 2 blocked for codeshare but available for QF. AA7349 availability F0, P0

I find the loading of QF9 tonight a bit unusual, the flight will depart in less than 13 hours and still shows F7A7J0. I would imagine that most J to F upgrades would have been processed by now. Looks like I'll stay in Y if no J seats open...

Still trying for my first upgrade as WP (always got them as SG!) from J->F: may I ask about the loading in F for QF11 SYD-LAX on Wednesday 1 March.

(Wondering whether there's any point in getting excited at about 11.30am on Monday at T-72)

Here you go: F3 A3 J9 C9 D9 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 G0

Looks promising. Seatmap shows 6 unallocated seats in F. Emerald city is full so quite a few status pax in J I guess.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply: Mrs C and I are currently seated in row 11 in Emerald City; we applied for the upgrade last May, am WP, flying mid-week, so fingers and toes crossed! Ok, so I will get my hopes up (Mrs C always tells me not to lick at the lolly shop window)

Let us know how you go. Already within the 72 hours, by the way, but I think you are right that 48 hours is for WPs. Should mean that any CL or P1s have already been upgraded. Perhaps having two of you will be a disadvantage - don't know.

Good luck!

I would prioritise the availability over the seatmap.
With only 3 tickets for sale in F the remaining 3 of the 6 unallocated seats don't represent available tickets.
The tickets have been sold they just haven't been allocated a seat.
I can confirm that and also advise that there will be competition for upgrades to the 3 remaining seats - so it will depend on status and the date of the upgrade request.

B*gg*r, B*gg*r, B*gg*r.......

Mrs C has just been onto QF and it looks as though we're currently at the bottom of the upgrade list. The QF WP person tried to manually put us back into the system, but couldn't so we may have missed out on the upgrade.

Something I didn't realise "when booking an upgrade, the status at the time of booking the upgrade is the status your upgrade request remains at till upgrades are allocated".

When we booked our US trip last year in May (to take advantage of the DSC offer), I was WP and Mrs C was SG, though she went WP a few weeks later in June. Mrs C, with ~800,000 points burning a hole in her pocket, applied for our J-F upgrade on 1 May, so we expected we'd be at or near top of the list. But because the upgrade booking had Mrs C as SG, we've missed the WP upgrade allocation.

So a lesson learned: if your status changes in between making an upgrade and the upgrade being allocated, call QF and make sure your upgrade booking has its status upgraded.

That's a shame. Still showing F3 A3, so perhaps some hope remains.
