PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Does anyone know how far our Qantas and Emirates release Seat awards? Looking to fly Business from Bangkok to Sydney for 2 adults and 2 children (Can fly separate Days eg 2 and 2). Looking for travel December or January. I have 375000 QFF points and potentially could fly from a neighbouring country. I also have 100,000+ flybuys and 331000 commbank awards.

i don't mind putting in the hard yard and checking frequently but don't know how soon i should start checking availability.

Hi are you talking 2017/18 or 2018/19?

Hi N0mad - there's going to be a better thread on AFF for you to get advice on this particular topic - but the basics you need to know are that QF loads/releases it's own award seats 355 days out from the travel date. It can be very difficult - even when checking that far out - to secure 2 or more seats together, especially in premium cabins. Holiday season reduces that likelihood even more. Availability does differ by QFF status, and if you are CL, P1 or WP, you might have a shot at getting a seat or seats released by talking with your respective premium line. Good luck!

Cheers,
Matt.

p.s. your flybuys and commbank points (if not earned as QFF points), are of no use when it comes to QF, but might be of value with other airlines; I'm not sure on that.

Thanks Serfy. I have had 2 unsuccessful requests on QF6 SIN to SYD last year as an SG. Being a Skybed configuration could be a blessing in disguide for me.

I have requested upgrade form Flex economy to buiness on the following flights. I am SG member
QF 5 - 8 December
QF 24 - 15 December
Any chance?

i have my QF6 SIN to SYD tomorrow 8 Dec. As a WP, I thought the upgrade should be clear by now. I did a dummy booking and there are still 6 J seats on my flight. could someone provide an insight on my chance please? TIA.
