PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

What are the chances of a lowly Bronze FF getting a points upgrade from Y to J on QF31 in a couple of weeks? I'm new at this and don't speak Frequent Flyer yet, so English would be appreciated!! :p

Greetings MmeLaFloFlo. To assist in answering this question, more specifics are required- ie date of travel.

Good Luck!

Re: Points upgrade... two chances?

Date of travel is Fri 24th and it's the entire SYD-LHR flight. I have Qantas Club membership too but don't think that will make any difference.

This is the flight loading from ExpertFlyer:

F1 A0 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

This shows that the flight is heavily booked in the premium cabins (F through to T), and possibly oversold in the economy cabins (Y through to E), evidenced by the number of zeros.

If upgrades are processed, I understand that these would likely be for higher tier frequent flyers, prior to bronze.

Re: Points upgrade... two chances?

Ack! I won't hold my breath and will ready myself for an unpleasant flight! It doesn't even look like there'll be a chance of a premium economy upgrade. Ah well...

Thanks for your help. :-|

Whats the situation on each leg, often it can show zeros for the trip through to LHR but have a different story on each leg.

I'm on QF31 from Sydney to London Heathrow on the 16th June, and QF32 back to Sydney on the 27th June. Both ways in J. Does anyone by any chance have any thoughts on chances of scoring a points upgrade to F?

Hi everyone, first time posting so thanks for putting up with me.
I've put in for an upgrade request on QF0015 16 June Brisbane to LA from economy to business class. Does anyone have any information on how full the flight is and whether this is likely at all? I'm a silver frequent flyer and qantas club member if that is any help.
Thanks very much to anyone who can provide any info!

I guess it will depend upon how many WP and SG are ahead of you in the upgrade lottery. :-|

Thanks TonyHancock, I really appreciate you taking the time to have a look into that.
Not too sure of the meaning of the codes but it sounds like I would have to be lucky, so I will go expecting to be in economy and anything else will be a surprise :) Thanks again!

J9 C9 D9 I7 - Business showing plenty of availability
W0 R0 T0 - Premium Economy - No seats available
Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0 - Economy - No seats available

Others here are much better at reading these, but it looks to me like economy and premium economy could be oversold, so good chance of points upgrades and potentially operational upgrades. Platinums and Golds are likely to get priority.

Availability can change regularly though.

I don't mind doing look ups on Expertflyer, but I don't want to give incorrect information, because I'm really no expert at interpreting availability.

Good luck, I hope you get the upgrade! :)

Good luck with the upgrade lottery. You've got PM so we'll have a drink in the F Lounge before hand, to celebrate your F upgrade success and me being stuck in seat 79B :( ;)

Hi. First time poster, long time lurker. I am flying Perth to Prague via Singapore and London in economy (sale fare) and am registered for a business upgrade on QF9 on 23 June (thanks to the QF offer earlier in the year to upgrade even though you usually can't on a sale fare). Just wondering what the chances of an upgrade are? I am a platinum ff and have been so for years. About 100 SC's off being lifetime gold. Any help appreciated :)

QF63 SYD-JNB - 25/06/2011 - so looking at this availability - F2 A1 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0 - one would assume that economy is sold out, as I can't get a seat on the direct flight via qantas.com; premium econ and business are available.

Looking at the EF seat map there are only a handful of economy seats occupied, so wondering if there are some knowledgeable folks here who can interpret what's happening with this flight? If I had to guess I'd say it is a chance of being cancelled? Or could I expect a Y seat to open up once the load controllers take a look?

thanks
