PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Looks like it's come through - seat assignment has changed to 5K :)

Nice.

1A is still available I see, as are a lot of other seats. Enjoy the trip I hope it is more of a wow than the way over there.

I hope so too - i thought it was worth another shot :)

Currently sitting in the Flagship Lounge at LAX. Will stick with 5K I think - it looked like a nice quiet seat on the way over.

Hi all...off to LAX on QF15 tomorrow (16/08). I've been watching the loadings on E/F for a few weeks and it has been all over the place. Up until a few days ago, we had 9 in most classes. This morning it is showing J9 C5 D2 I0 U0 W9 R4 T0 Z0 Y5 B4 H3 K1 M1 L1 V1 S1 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Any expert views on chances of op ups occurring? I'm platinum travelling with a gold. Our booking is also linked to another couple of travellers who are both QC with bronze.

I like the look of all the 1's in Y with the high availability in J and W...though not as good as all 9 in the premium classes.

It would depend on a) how many seats up the front are left up the front once they've cleared the waitlist of pax who have requested upgrades on points & b) if there is an oversale still in the whY cabin once the points upgrades have been done the day prior.

Getting 4 op-ups would be harder as if they do an op-up for your friends QP Bronze friends that could come at the expense of other WP or SG pax travelling. You'd possibly have a better chance if it was just you & your partner linked as a couple.

Harder????? Camel/needle I think...

Hello all,
Just wondering how you get the seating details from FlightStats (eg J9 C5 D2 etc)? I've just signed up and have tried to see what is available and can't seem to find the right link.

Now that I'm starting to fly 1-2 times per month and have recently got QP and am working my way up the *ranks* of QFF status, I thought it might be useful to see what is or isn't available.

Thanks!

I've never used FlightStats so I don't know what it makes available .. most people hereabouts seem to use Expert Flyer (Flight Availability | Upgrades | Frequent Flyer Information) to look this stuff up. It's a paid subscription, but there's a free trial available.

What's the chance of Business Upgrades from Brisbane to Hong Kong next Tuesday night

Hi all,

My wife and I are on QF097 from Brisbane to Hong Kong next Tuesday night 23rd August and returning on QF098 on Sat 27th August.

On both flights we have a request for a Business Class Upgrade and will be notified 5 hours in advance if we'll get lucky or not.

I'm a lowely Qantas Club Bronze Member and the wife is a standard Frequent Flyer.

Does anyone know what the likelyhood of these upgrades coming through at this stage?

Thanks for you help

Wayne

The presence of I class indicates a reasonable chance both ways. The return flight look nearly empty in economy.

Hi all,

My wife and I are on QF031 from Singapore to LHR next Monday night 29th August and returning on QF032 on Friday 09 Sept.

On both flights we have a request for a Business Class Upgrade, how's it looking for us??

Thanks for you help in advance

John

Hey AusFF'ers :)

I've just been booked on last-minute travel to the US next week. I'm in full-fare Y on VA1 departing Sydney August 27th. Was wondering if someone with Expert Flyer access and an analytical mind could show me current seat availability and make a wild guess as to the likelihood of an op-up for me (I am Velocity Gold).

Thanks in advance!

Op-ups looking pretty unlikely am sorry - it's a very very full flight:

QF32 9/9/11 F6 A6 J9 C9 D3 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S5 G0 E0

So both have plenty of J availability. QF31 looks like Y is very heavily sold, so I'd say your chances are better than average on that flight :)

Thanks ozbeachbabe...

Turned out my partner and I did get upgraded to PE. Our travelling companions did not. Was a little awkward at checkin when the agent explained that we had been upgraded due to oversell but that it was only my partner and me. So looks as though it makes little difference to QF whose booking is linked to whose...which would make sense. Why penalise a WP by passing them over for an UPG simply because they are travelling with lower status PAX on linked (but not the same) PNRs...

As an aside, while I was grateful for the UPG, the service in the PE cabin was the worst I had ever had. The crew barely said boo to anyone except when serving scheduled meals and they handed out economy amenities kits and you had to ask for socks! If I had paid $4-5k, I'd have been pretty peeved. At one point we asked for some chocolate and one of the crew tried to tell us to get it ourselves!

Just wondering what my chances of an upgrade J to F are on QF 11 SYD-LAX 07 Sep 11?

I know it is still two weeks out but just curious on the loadings
