PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I suppose then this is the same for other options? e.g., QF1, QF5/QF9, etc.

Might just bite the bullet and pay for an exit row. Can't do regular Y at 6"5'
:(

A part specific, part generic question ...

We have 2 x Red e-Deal fares on QF595 ADL-PER this Sunday 24th. I'm getting no award availability, which is fair enough. However, QF still has 4 x J fares for sale on that flight. It's our first flight under the new upgrade regime; if the fares remain unsold might they become available for award inventory and, if so, at what stage prior to ETD?

Informed comment, advice and speculation all welcome! :)

J4 D4 I0, 73H?

Methinks your best bet is get to the QP early and try for ODU's.

Logged in this morning to find our upgrade on QF049 today Y to J confirmed.

Very happy.

Thanks for the advice, serfty. I gather that further award inventory is not usually made available prior to T-3? I'll keep checking and keep my fingers crossed for Sunday, but as the number of J fares has dropped overnight to 3 ... :(

Hi all,

I'm flying MEL-HKG on QF29 on 16/9/2011 in PE. Have an upgrade request in for J. I know it's a long way out, but current loadings (according to FlightStats) are:
F8 A8 J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

So it seems that PE is sold out and economy is already looking reasonably full. J seems to have decent capacity still (though of course that may change). My impression is that things are looking positive for the upgrade at the moment.

I'm wondering whether Qantas would ever process the upgrade early to free up more capacity to sell? Has this happened to anybody before?

I9 is promising, moreso with A8 as some J's may move to F.

Early processing has not happened recently to my knowledge - there were some reports of this happening 2 or 3 days out early last year, but I have come across none recently.

At most expect maybe 30 hours; more than likely 12-18 hours.

Hello fellow members. Just wondered if anyone had the loading for QF9 from MEL - SIN - LHR leaving this friday 29th July?

Thanks in advance

Re: Seating Availability/Allocation/Configuration Help Desk

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows what my chances would be for securing 2x J upgrade awards (on Red eDeals) for QF8 (BNE Int -> SYD Int) on Fri Sep 30, 6:30-8:05am? From a basic check of the Qantas booking engine, there are at least two paid seats available (probably more because it's not showing 'hurry'), and the flight is also showing (at least 2) J seats available as Classic Awards... We haven't yet booked the flight, as I was hoping to check upgrade availability first (if there aren't 2 upgrade seats available, I'd probably opt for a VA flight with lounge access etc), and I've actually never flown on a 744 before (just realised the other day that ALL of my international travel to date has been on Airbus aircraft!), and was I hoping to give the 744 a try without selecting it for a long-haul flight (in case I don't like it by comparison to the 388 etc).

Also, I know this is probably a stupid question, but as I've also never travelled on a 'international' domestic flight, are upgrade requests still immediately confirmed when requested (ie. as a normal domestic flight), or is it treated as an international flight (confirming on the day of departure) for upgrade requests?

Many thanks! :)

Testing my luck...

Hi guys,

just testing my luck here so hoping one of you knowledgeable people might be able to help:

What are my chances for an upgrade from J class to First on QF 11 departing Thu 03NOV from SYD to LAX? I've put the request in exactly 90 days prior to departure and am Gold status (this trip will finally lift me up to Platinum, yuhe!).

Another one, I'm currently planning to go over to WA with my partner next Easter and are hoping to get an upgrade from Discount Eco to Business. Can anyone here tell me on which flights from PER to SYD on the Easter Monday 09APR 2012 there are upgrade award seats still available before I make a booking? We'd prefer the QF582 because it's a 747 but would also consider the QF580 or any of the other QF flights SYD-PER that day if there's a better chance for an award seat on any of those. Can anyone help please? By then, I'll be Plat status and my partner is silver.

Thanks a lot already- this is a great help!

Hi guys,

I'm on QF12 tomorrow 9/8/2011 LAX-SYD. I'm currently booked in J (well, D, actually).
Flight load looks very light.

I have an upgrade request in to F.

What's the collective wisdom on the likelihood of being successful?

Cheers!
Mat.

With the loadings as they are at the moment I would say the upgrade should come through. Enjoy the flight either way :D

Bit too early to say. A lot can happen between now and November.
