PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Thanks Straitman.

Looks like I might be in J then. But then again who knows. Worst case being in J, I think I can handle that :)

Hey AusFF'ers :)

I've just been booked on last-minute travel to the US next week. I'm in full-fare Y on VA1 departing Sydney August 27th. Was wondering if someone with Expert Flyer access and an analytical mind could show me current seat availability and make a wild guess as to the likelihood of an op-up for me (I am Velocity Gold).

Thanks in advance!

With > 24 hours to go... was wondering if anyone would mind re-running this query for me please? Cheers :)

Hi all,

would anyone be able to please tell me how the load on QF7 SYD-DFW looks next Monday 5th Sept?

Hoping to snag a PY seat on my Y reward ticket! alternatively, if i would be lucky enough to get a whole row to myself! we can all hope right.

Cheers

Not sure you'll be able to get a prem seat as Bronze. Flight seems pretty full to me;

The 8th looks to have the lightest loads, especially QF1...the next two days are appreciably heavier.

I concur, the 8th looks wide open. Which class are you after?

I guess cheapest option but i do have 100,000 ff points not sure which class i need to book to be able to get upgrade. Used to always use agent to do my bookings but after several stuffups decided to DYI hence my lack of clues!
Also just did the gold membership here and my qantas club renewal has expired so i guess i have to start again with that - had been member for many years but it expired a few months ago with no notification.
Btw thanks for your help to newbie!

Hi all,

I'm flying QF29 to HKG on 16/9/11 in PE with Mrs Sometimeflyer.

Current loadings (care of Flight Stats) are F4 A4 P0 J9 C9 D9 I9 Z9 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y9 B5 H3 K0 M0 T0 etc

I've currently got an upgrade request in for us (lodged at T-90days).

Wondering whether I should be thinking about taking the chance of an op-up as Y is looking full and PE is sold out.

I'm WP. Mrs is NB.

Thoughts? What would you do?

To be able to upgrade you need to book in a more expensive booking class. But the whole upgrade lottery also depends on status. So if a CL, WP, SG or PS requests an upgrade as well they will get it and not you... I would not pay more to get an upgradeable booking class and use the money for something else.

Go the points; with those loadings and being a WP in PE an upgrade to J is as close to probable as you can get.

If you go the points you'll be in front of all those other SG/PS/NB in PE and all in Economy.

If you hope for an op-up you'll be behind all those WP/SG/PS/NB in PE and all WP/SG/PS/NB economy looking for a points upgrade to Business.

Thanks very much for kind reply. Curious as to how you find out this info?!
Pardon my ignorance..... I am still looking at thu 8/9 and 10/9 syd to London, is it still showing thu the best option esp QF1?
When we see the flights are much lighter on 8th is it enough difference to believe its possible to get a seat thats not too crowded in economy? I'm also new to requesting particular seating - anyone have hints for getting started on this aspect?

Would an AFFer be kind enough to advise on the chance of two upgrades on points for QF577 on 6 Nov 11?

Many thanks - in advance,
arraitch
