PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Indeed - and on the seat map it looks like the/a smaller business cabin that they have flagged this way... a new sales option for coast to coast flights perhaps? J without the soft product, sold as Y+?

Just to close this one out; I was seated in row 28, and watched the procedings...

When we topped out of our climb, the curtains between rows 8/23 we pulled across, and remained that way the whole flight. No food or drink went forward - The PE mini cabin was catered from the J galley. You would imagine the food was the same - maybe with limited choice of the meals left over from the J cabin?

Regardless, with 6 lay-flat seats still vacant a few days out, this would have been a good upgrade to get. I'll try my hand on my run next week.

On the 787 PE food comes from the J galley too.

Looks like my new wife and I are out of luck on QF93 tomorrow as Expert Flyer showing all J cabin seats now unavailable.

Will I receive an "unsuccessful" upgrade request text from QF or don't receive anything when its unsuccessful?

Hi All

I'm punishing myself and flying on JQ47 in a couple of weeks time.

Just wanted to understand what the current load factors are? I know things can change in the next few weeks but thought i'd gauge what its like currently.

Cheers

Can you provide the origin, destination, and date that you are flying?

Hello comrades, could somebody please look up QF 1 on 17 March in F SYD - LHR?
Relative has a full paid business seat. Hoping to upgrade to F. I think highly unlikely as they are only silver. I am gold so can I request an upgrade through my account on my points? Very unlikely to succeed I know.

Not full yet but not a lot of availability unfortunately. I understand upgrade requests from a higher status is only available to P1s

Thanks, I do now seem to remember something like that from many years ago.

You can still submit an upgrade request for a family member through your own QFF account, and using your points, but as mentioned, the higher priority for the traveling pax only applies if you were P1. Your upgrade as a SG would be processed as PS upgrade, when it comes down to it. I'm sure they'd still love to let you end up funding it though :) (in the unlikely event it happened)

Cheers,
Matt.

Hello!
Can some please check PE availability on QF 2 Sin>Syd on Mar 5 this Sunday.

Many thanks!

Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to book get my partner on the same classic award flights I am on:
  • QF154 - SYD to HBA on March 31
  • JQ724 - HBA to SYD on April 2
Checking ExpertFlyer for the QF outbound flight I see the following loads:
J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S4 N1 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

When I check ExpertFlyer for the QF (JQ) inbound flight I see the following:
Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 E0

My questions are as follows:
  • Is it sensible for me to wait a couple of days to see if classic award availability opens up (i.e. after the QF Australia sale goes away)? If so, how long should I wait before I book something else?
  • At present I see I could book the above itinerary for ~70,000 points as a pure points (i.e. non-classic) redemption. This doesn't seem like a particularly good use of points as the flights could be booked right now for ~$400 cash. Is my calculation correct here?
  • An option I am considering is to simply have her fly Virgin flights departing at roughly the same time as there's plenty of classic economy award availability there.
Would love to hear thoughts on this. Ideally, I'd like to book the same itinerary I've got and have EF alerts set up for the outbound in case availability does pop up.
