PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

Trying to determine what my chances of upgrading using points would be based on the following info from expert flyer for BNE to CTS return in Jan 2013

J4 C4 D4 I0 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

I am QF Platinum and my partner is bronze and we have approx 80K of points available.

Was looking at purchasing either discount economy or PE and using points to upgrade.

What would my chances be based on the above loadings.

Thanks
FBS

Remember that if you fly a OneWorld airline to Japan then you can purchase a Yokoso fare around Japan for 10,000 Yen (a bit over $120) and then at the check in desk as if you can pay for an upgrade to business class for 1,000 Yen. If space is available then they will sell it to you and change the ticket so that you get business class status credits. A cheap way to upgrade and get the benefits.

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia.

Am considering moving from QF8 + 107 on Tues next week to QF15 on Sun, have a Y+ ticket. QF have said I only need to pay the $280 change fee, which work might pay for.

I had a quick look at Flight Stats - but can anyone tell what Y+ is looking like on QF15 on Sun? And any idea what the current cabin layout is (I realise that it could change).

Thanks!

For Premium Economy, look at W, R, T & Z fares.

High T (let alone any Z) indicates upgrade chances may be better than normal. FWIW, T8 along with I9 & X9 indicate the flight is rather empty for one a week out.

Thanks serfty! It's now looking like I'll need to cancel my rather nice seat on QF108 next Sat night (2-3-2 in Y+) for a QF16 or similar on Thurs 25th. :(

Hi - booked on QF128 on 181012 in V Class, how's my chances for getting into J? (PE looks a washout): Available Seats: First: 4 (at least) Fare Classes: F/4 A/4 P/0 Business: 4 (at least) J/4 C/2 D/1 I/0 U/0 Coach: 9 (at least) Other: n/a W/0 R/0 T/0 Z/0 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/0 N/0 Q/0 O/0 G/0 X/0 E/0

Yikes it's now at J/1 C/0 D/0 I/0 :( PE all 0s and economy pretty open. F is at F/4 A/4 so hopefully some J upgrades clear and open up a seat for me

Flight is now two days out, and due to neck and arm damage I've had for the past couple of weeks (Storyteller - are you there?? Ulnar nerve and C4/C5, getting better now), I'm contemplating hitting the UG button.
At the moment, am in Y+ in a side aisle, and the window seat is looking empty. *If* it stays like that, might get a spare seat to dump stuff onto, but that'll be it, given the fixed armrests. Looking like a relatively lightly loaded flight on FlightStats:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/9 U/0

W/9 R/9 T/9 Z/0
Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/9 Q/9 O/9 G/0 X/9

Yes, only I can answer this, maybe I want to be encouraged?? Should I upgrade??

Well, I hit that upgrade button, and got the SMS from Qantas within ~3hrs of request, and at ~T-48hrs before the flight. Reconfigured 747, I was assigned 15J, and I've moved it to 5J. Thought about the middle 3 seats in the nose (only ones available), and then decided 5J was worth a try.

Always nice to hear...Thats a great outcome for you, and with plenty of notice to enjoy it also. Have a fantastic flight

Re: QF11 Load Question

From KVS:

QF 11 SYD 14:05 LAX 09:45 388 F4 A2 P0 J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 W9 R9 T9 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X7 E0

Looks like there's plenty of availability in J, W and Y.

Re: QF11 Load Question

hi madrooster thanks for this - can you please interpret this information for me? specifically how many empty economy seats? is it 9 x 11 ie 99 vacant economy seats?

I have reserved 80K on the A380 (the seat with no seat in front of it!).

but if the flight is empty I will ask in the QF Lounge if I can change to a middle row of four and have all four seats blocked off. But I run the risk of someone else deciding to sit in one of those seats after take off. And by then I've lost 80K.

Re: QF11 Load Question

Ask for the entire plane to yourself like that guy who had an entire AA plane to himself ;)

I'd stick to 80K for now and move after take off if you see a block of 4.

Re: QF11 Load Question

but if there's looking to be about 100 vacant economy seats one week out, why wouldn't they accede to a reasonable request such as to block out a row of four?
