PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I'm on QF129 SYD-PVG on the 13th. According to FlightStats, loads as follows:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/6 U/1
Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/9 Q/0 O/0 G/0 X/4 E/0

I'm a WP but can't remember what type of Economy I'm in; I'm guessing O but I also paid $1,500 for the ticket when I know it was available for $1,200 a few days before I purchased it. What are my op-up chances like?

considered a points upgrade if allowable?

Well, that's a long way out to try to get any real indication.

Have you looked at the "TIP" in post one of this thread?

All the fare buckets are zeroed out.

Did you want actual seating? Y is already looking nearly full. 4 class bird though so everyone can move up one class.

581 is nearly full in J, Y looking empty.

QF2 is looking very full at the back but empty up front F9 A9. In fact there's not a single F seat allocated, all empty... I'd say very good chance.

First is showing as EMPTY
Business showing 7 seats free
Y+ showing as 3 seats free

Also as per the other post above mine :) as some people may not have selected seats etc etc etc but business is looking VERY loaded, along with Y+

First looks empty

As a Plat you should be fine for a points upgrade, as any Plat 1/CL members would have already been upgraded by now

Good luck for F but I'd be too scared to hope for an "op up"

Thanks Lovesto will try for the upgrade BUT cant till the QF site is back working Grrrrrrrrrr :D

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Ah, I was thinking points. But as lovestotravel has said, that should of happened already.

If it's really oversold in the back then could have a flow on effect, they're not going to put anybody in an empty F cabin if they can avoid it.

Could you request an upgrade over the phone given the web site health?

Thanks! Fingers crossed for an op up! ;) QF site down and can't do online check in to try and nab a Y+ seat!!! :(

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hi, I was wondering what my chances of an upgrade would be on

QF93 Feb 14. I'm in Y+ and have requested a points upgrade to J
QF94 Mar 5 Same deal.

I haven't flown Y+ or J on the 380 so looking forward to an improved experience to Y.

Also I have requested points upgrades to J from Y on
QF648 Feb 12
QF769 Mar 7. What would my chances be?

Thanks a heap in advance :)

QF93 - 12 seats free in F. 20 seats in J free (Approx). 3 seats free in Y+ (Very full)
I'd say you'll get the upgrade to J

QF94 - 12 seats free in F. 35 seats in J free (Approx). 4 seats free in Y+ (Very full, again)
Again, you should be fine!

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hi

Question re the upgrade probability from P to B QF108 Monday 18 Feb 2013

Thanks

You want to go from First class to Economy? :) (P is a first class bucked, B is an Economy bucket)

But I'm sure you mean Premium Econ to Business....

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/7 U/0 W/9 R/8 T/2 Z/0 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/9 Q/7 O/0 G/0 X/5 E/0

Chances look ok for now assuming you're talking about a points upgrade, still plenty of space in Business.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hi recent failed upgrade experience was as follows,, and I'm curious to know if this is typical or if there is little rhyme or reason!

Wife and I flew QF23 SYD-BKK on Fri 22. I'm QC Bronze, she is just Bronze. Applied for points upgrade from Y to J at 40k points. At T-24, I noted that a third segment had been inserted into the booking which ad something like "wait listed for U Business Upgrade". EF was showing C5/D5/J5/I5 and the seat map showed 14 unallocated J seats .

On arrival at SYD (ex-WLG) it was clear at the QC that the upgrade had not gone through as the addition sector had vanished. I guess I kinda had my hopes up given the "wait list" status showing, although I have not heard of this before on FT.

So, was my experience typical? I'm wondering about having a crack for the return, which is in a 332, and showing sold in all Y classess except for some full fare Y.

If you don't request, you won't get any points upgrade.

Your experience with the waitlisted segment appearing is typical, although one hopes for the economy segment to be the one that disappears.

To be honest, I have given up on worrying about upgrades for QF international flights.
