PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

The quickest in terms of travel time (and avoiding LY) is I think QR via Doha and Larnaca and then Aegean for the short hope to Tel Aviv.

If you go with Cathay you can pay about $65 AUD for lounge access if you have a long layover. QF status won’t generally work by itself I have heard.

Not sure I understand? Why wouldn't Qantas status (SG or WP) get you into the CX lounges in HK? Never had an issue before. The requirement is a OW connecting flight. What rule are they using to deny entry?

I am unsure about why our latest traveler had to pay but QF said no and CX said no. He is on a CX ticket in Y with no CX status.

Looking for upgrade chance for Sunday 13th May for flights MEL/SYD/BNE - HKG from Y to J. Must be a morning departure from AU to allow enough connection time for a classic reward booking from HKG.

You cannot be that general, it is not particularly fair to people who help out in this thread.

Please visit the first post on the first page, and follow the link provided to search for yourself. If you want more detailed idea on chances, then I would suggest posting back here with more information.

Oops. I meant QF of course.

Looking for Y to J upgrade chance on Sunday 13th May 2018 on these three flights:

QF29 MEL-HKG
QF127 SYD-HKG
QF97 BNE-HKG

QF29 MEL-HKG
QF127 SYD-HKG

QF29 MEL-HKG J2 C1 (however Y is completely open - even O9 E9 X9, indicating a *very* light load)
QF127 SYD-HKG J7 C3 D3 W3 R1 (note Y is 9s down to S, and X6 (award seat))
QF97 BNE-HKG J4 C4 D4 I3 (Y seems to be sold more heavily on this flight)

In short, BNE is your best shot as I is available. You may even be able to request a seat opened up on this flight as a QF WP. However if you are playing the lottery anyway...maybe if you're ok with Y, consider the direct flight from MEL as you can get the cheapest seats with E9 available. Plus F Lounge breakfast :). And good lounges in HKG to wait.

Thanks. My friends are going to try via SYD (looks like a better chance than from MEL and a 747 flight before those disappear for good). Would have preferred lunch/dinner, but a morning flight is needed and they've never been to the SYD FLounge before (only MEL).

If having oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status (eg QF SG) then CX lounge access at HKG is certainly avaliable before a oneworld marketed and operated flight at no additional cost.

Hey FF people,

Hoping I can get some direction or help. I'm a newbie and have no idea where to start!! I would like to know point upgrade availability for the following Virgin flights
SYD>LAX
VA1 Thu Jun 07 2018 9:30 AM Premium Saver Fare
LAX>SYD
VA2 Mon Jun 11 2018 11:45 PM Premium Saver Fare

Velocity Gold Status with 150k points

If anyone has a better method of doing this flight, happy for feedback but I have a double status credit offer I am looking to take advantage of. If I'm in the wrong place, apologies! Just point me in the right direction!

Thanks in advance

Upgrade confirmed over 24hr prior to flight which was a nice surprise.
Wow! Perhaps the zeros already factored the upgrade assignments... or a few cancelled. Whatever it was, it's a great outcome!

Availability in D/I generally regarded as positive, subject always to who might be ahead of you in the queue.

Hi,
I'm looking for my upgrade chances on the following flights:

VA7 - BNE-LAX 14/7/18

-and-

VA2 LAX-SYD 20/7/18

I'm VA platinum and trying to decide if its worth paying the extra for a Freedom fare to bid for an upgrade, Velocity tell me upgrade availability has not yet been released.

Many Thanks!

eight weeks out it is hard to get any greatsense of upgrade opportunity, but maybe a trend.

However:

Would someone please be able to check loadings on QF128 for Sunday night? Am hoping to move from Y+ to J.

There's a couple of us hanging out for an upgrade so the numbers will be appreciated.
