Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

The thread that keeps on giving.

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

My apologies to barbra - your fare being quite expensive I thought it was business class.

I remember now you are flying economy. In that case I absolutely recommend the airport hotel in Singapore. You will have a good rest for a few hours.

You should aim to leave the hotel about 1 hour before your scheduled flight departure time. This will get you to the gate with plenty of time for boarding, which will be about 30 minutes before departure.

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

Have you organised your travel insurance yet Barbra?

Absolutely It is the last resort i would en-devour if i didn't end up with travel insurance. I got travel insurance by a company call Covermore-travel insurance. They seem good i think only found out that if my airline end sup been cancel the travel insurance will help me get my money back but then again same goes with my actual booking as a pro i get the full refund as well so not sure who i should choose to get my money back in case this was to ever happen .
But i hear lots of stories that this and that you dont get the actual full fund back in one go but more waiting weeks on end.

But yes travel insurance is important and if your in australia i also recommend you folks (smart traveler . com a site to let the gonvement of australia know where you are in case something tradegy was to happen to alocate you quickly which i recommend and its free and nothing to pay with this smarttraveler website.

That's
quite alright. We all make our own mistakes. So no. Not business class but economy i be on the (comfort seat) it is a economy seat normal seat but it just means more leg room instead of the normal economy seat been all cramped in.

Yes i have booked the hotel which is on terminal 1 very handy and its a 6 hour block cost me aproximate 78USD now what i never understand is why do they have it in US dollars for singapore website ? i notice the same thing last time i booked this and singapore is not American dollars. So not sure why they do it as US dollars confusing when it comes to exchange rates considering its singapore it self.

Anyhow the hotel is call Aerotel it is a new renovated property on terminal 1 and because i be departing from t1 again it is very handy. Nothing special about the rooms they are just a one room with 2 separated beds a plasma television on the wall. A large bathroom and sometiems they offer with a window or without a window in the room. With a window your pretty much looking over the runways and the airliens resting on the sides.
Yes thank you well i think 1 hour and 25minutes would be good to be out the gates. For example if my plane leaves at 11pm i have a 6houc block paid but that does not meant you must remain in the hotel for 6 hours You can depart anytime you wish regardless. But the room is still yours until it ends the hours. If my plane leaves at 11pm as an example i will be at the gate or near the security check in which this case its what it going to happen security check before entering in the gate area for the plane i would be there waiting until the security check opens for our gate 1hour and 25minutes this means *6hour block* in the hotel means i will only have the room for just 4hours and 25minutes aproximate. I believe. there for i have 1 hour and close to 3minutes waiting to board the plane. It is very important to be on time and be there even if your the first waiting regardless.. Know days things can be rushed fast by all means. And anything can change.

I will also make sure my flight departs on the time it should meant to go an the actual gate as sometimes airports change things by the hour different gate now or this and or that. might as ell chck that online unles i have to look at the monitors at the airport.

To rap it all up im quite excited about this. Therese lots of things for each thing. Specially this hotel for a few hours and so on. At least i know i have a comfortable relaxing one stop to the next rather then having to be stuck in middle of traffic people at airports inside sort of to speak.

The hotel has been paid but it always keeps showing in USD dollars not understand what's with that in singapore when it should show singapore dollars not usa dollars currency.

But i think it was 78.00 USD and they would had charge me by now today. I printed out the reservation and i must present it when i get there. Then i have the room. It is not the type of hotel i proffered but because this is only a few hours only it is ok to have a room with 2 single beds one by the next side of me.......

Anyhow im looking forward to it. And this will also help other flyers when visiting singapore airport to try out the Aerotel. Its worth getting some rest.

I personally dont no if i will be able to sleep as i be afraid i fall asleep and miss the plane. But the one with me would get him to go to sleep by all means as i know he will be jetlag and crumby about it. I might relax on the bed watching tv sort of drift to sleep but not fully asleep. I have to be prefer to get out soon take a shower and off to the terminal and wait until the security check opens. This is what happen i got there about 1 hour and 15min and the security check wasnt open until 20minutes and then i went thru it and the actual gate was next door thru a glass see thru walls (door) from there another 25minutes more or less waiting to board the plane.

But really the porpose for this hotel is to mainly get the rest one would need. You know it is aproximate 8 hours from australia to singapore. And knowing theres another long flight from singapore to helsinki for 12hours and been on a seat 12 horus is terrible. One would need to stand up and walk around a couble of times. thats why the hotel is there to give you a refreshment and up and energizes again.

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

Anyway, you get the picture. $6000 seems like crazy money.

Everything about this thread seems crazy...

There have been many other posts on this thread that made me wish I had the ability to give 2 'likes'..

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

I was having a fairly ordinary day until half an hour ago when I read all 25 pages of this thread. And ended up howling with laughter; honestly it's gotta be a lend as someone else said. (Hopefully that comment won't bring a deluge of criticism!!) I can't help but notice when reading the thread in one go - yes all 247 posts - you will see that Barb's English appears to improve greatly around post #135. And #117 - bit of a slip telling folk to 'grow up' . #83 Slow it is.....#248 Wondering I am.

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

This post has been a real laugh. Like Julesmac I have just spent an interesting 40 mins reading the posts. Yes the quality of english wavered...ha ha very funny!!

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

I also had another thought......some FF'ers in the past have talked about checking cost/availability/flights on line, and then going to a TA to book them, especially when they are multi-city,and not always able to be done yourself, whilst matching the prices as shown on the Finnair or skidoo sites. Maybe back at about post #10 someone could have suggested that any halfway competent TA - not Flight Centre! and I'm sure there would be - could have resolved ALL of Barbie's questions, soothed her fears, and been able to book the itinerary as desired.

Got my popcorn and going back to page 1. Entertainment value 'priceless'

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

Let’s stick to the topic and confine comments to giving the OP the courtesy of answers to the questions.

At about page 11 a wise warning resulted in an improvement of posts. The quality has slipped again in recent days.

Off topic one liners don’t really add anything.

This is general comment on the last few days. I'm not picking on anyone.

Barbara just out of curiosity are you the same person who under different names gave us so much entertainment bouncing around the Finair Forum last year

Firs tof all let me make this clear. Im not a intertainment person and im glad this is in interest for you over a coffee. I want to make it serious on the things im saying rahter then making it out a giggle. But thanks for the likes i can not believe the many lieks i have in here and because this forum is one of the wonderfull best areas ive ever came across. The other forums never where as good as this bunch lot. In here it seems people do care and willing to help one to another. The moderators of the forum are very nice people and im here to stay. Only problem is that this forum is not only part of the finnair discussion but at least like any other airlines i guess makes not much diferents with the branding.

Good to say i be on the finnair A250-900 one of the first brand new for europe. Also one of the very first built in WIFI internet at a cost. So basically i be on a recent new aircraft built with wifi and a A350 this is from singapore to helsinki the long route.... This aiircraft(s) by finnair came out late last year in 2015. So by the time i start flying with one of those aircraft the A350-900 it will still be one the the recent newer aircraft for me for the first time to board the plane. The only negative part of this is that the arm rest are slim so not sure if my big arm can even rest on that and distract another person by my side.

Here is what the (comfort seats on the economy looks like and on the back side is the normal economy without the economy comfort seat. Look at the photo one looks less legroom while the picture in the middle is more wider legroom. which one would need to stretch the leggings on a long flight if you know what i mean how crid the normal economy seats can really be knowdays. Not like the old days where the seats felt more like a couch sofa which felt more comfortable the type you would almost find in your tv living room. Instead of making the seats too crid tight that one would not be able to fit or able to get out of the seat after 12 hours with pains on the leg and thiegs.

Heres the photos of the new A350-900 by finnair.

show.jpg
As you can see gentlemens you are watching economy *comfort seats* at the middle front rows of the plane. They are normal seats just like any ordinary economy seats. Only giving you that much legging space to streach out at least notice the seat at the back of the middle is more crid tight while the one infront of it is more legging. Well this means thats where the comfort begins from there which is number 25 seat all the way to number 21 i believe so on those rows. This is also a 3 and 3 and 3 seats joint together with 2 hallways to walk up and down the plane sort of to speak.

Take note that the touch screen this new technology that i still have to catch up.... is a 11 inch screen and its a (touch screen) and not with a keyboard.
You get the brivilage to view exactly the very same figuration and stuff as a (business class) for all economy seats. On the new A350 only.

A you can see the arm rest how slim it is. Not sure how one would rest the arm on that know days. I just hope the actual seat in my eye view doesnt look like a spaceship design as i am not too much of a high futuristic looking fashionable.

And as you can see another diferent view. You are watching the comfort seats on the economy in front of the mdidle of the plane between the 2 wings. Just where the theater curtains are behind over that arch walls are what it is call the (business class) which is separated from us. You are watching as the camera photo person took the photo is on seat number 24 i believe so.
The actual ceiling lights changes into some what a rainbow slow motion colours from blue to green from pink to white from gray to brown in a slow motion. Which things like this would drive me to sleep i think because its design to relax i suppose reminds me the places where you get the wax on and or facial massager at a palace room where you relax on a flat portable bed.

cdn.seatguru.com.jpg

I am not too sure if the A350 is 100% over the world beyond all new things never seen before. It looks a contemporary just renew looks but the arm rest are very ugly so not sure how one would manage to lay the arm rest on that. However the plane seems 1 extra more wider lengh from left to right. Usually the like any aircraft thats old would be 2 seats left and 4 seats in the middle and 2 seats on the right side of the window. But this one is 1 extra seat added on the wide lengh of the aircraft for all lanes.

Just new 11 inch screen and they are touch screens not remote control for the television.
Just new viewable light display in slow motions obove your head. Also a much BIGGER round windows from all i heard.

But other then that just nothing more then a normal plane.

I thought that anew plane like this should have at least had a mini bar or a mini restaurant with stairs to go downstairs to a place to eat and talk about things. I guess this is not one of the double decor planes as ive seen recently. So not sure if the A350 is as good as the new planes that has 2 levels built in ?

I must buy a second luggage as soon as i can in order to take the aportunity to take 2 luggages on the plane and a carry on bag. So as you see im verye xcited about hop on and hop off thing and that the only thing is i would not no what i might even do for 12 hours stuck between the 2 slim armrest beside me in which i would be unable to stand up unless they can move up and down to go to the toilets when i have to in the middle of the night when they switch the lights off. I accidently when i went on a flight like this off to europe because it was dark and in the middle of the night rest mode. I came out of the toilet and i couldn;t remember where my seat was anymore. Oh tho i shouldnt have say this on here but i accidently seat on someones seat next to a men at night for a good 5 minutes and the person next to me started to poke on me as i was drifting away. Until i understood that this wasnt my seat and the person who came after i had to stand up was furious which i wont go on in details about it.

So yes sometimes when your disorientated and jetlag things like this does happen anytime. Just hope this wont happen again because of the long walk all the way to the back side to go to the bathroom... Only because ive notice this aircraft does gets quite dark so sometimes its hard to remember where you last seat on. Just the disorientated been 12 long hours on the plane can be stacking painful for those who understand what im on about would know things like that does happen for real.
