Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

Not sure as it's only on request and I didn't see anyone ask for one.

I find that most people on these flights at the moment are single travellers and are weirdly quiet as everyone just has their heads down in a book or on the phone with hardly any conversations taking place.

Wonderful.

I dislike chatty passengers sitting next to me who feel to need to fill in their time for the entire flight by wasting mine on stuff I am totally not interested in  and asking me personal questions that are none of their business

Same as a taxi ride ...... I’m not very interested in the world according to my taxi driver!

This is a remarkable virus isn't it? It has the ability to block middle seats on VA flights but not JQ or QF flights, mandates masks be worn on some airlines but not others, it removes all food and drinks on JQ, prevents ovens being turned on, or boxes of food being given on some airlines, and Rex cabin crew can demo a lifejacket but VA cabin crew can't? And has the remarkable effect of removing all alcoholic drinks from all airlines carts....:D

I got a complimentary bottle of wine on my Rex flight today!

That is why there is AFF!

Oh, and what flight were you on?
And why were you travelling?
And where have you travelled to recently?
Are you planning any future trips?
Do you prefer a window seat or an aisle seat?
Do you like travelling by train?
What is the best airport lounge?
What is the best credit card?
And I could go on ... 🧐

Exactly the issue right now. And rather strangely, it will be the things that happen to cut cost that will remain longer term, all in the “interest of keeping us all safer”.

Was there a special reason for proffering the wine?!?

I ask because when I flew QF the week before it was on my birthday and the cabin crew knew it. I was handed a stack of large cookies from the dinner boxes and apologies they couldn't give me a bottle of wine (this was J on the A330), and on the Qantaslink flight I got a handwritten card. :)

I believe they currently have a stockpile of wine that will expire if it's not used! I was told it was just a limited-time thing that the wine was complimentary, but they were also happy to sell beer and soft drinks on board for a charge.

Wine expires??! Understand if it was beer ... interesting that they will still offer beverages in flight whereas QF do not.

Anyway, it was great to be back in the air and I did "fly well" :)

Its more the... long personal histories of a total stranger

"......i have just been visiting my aunt martha and she has been suffering from cancer for the last x years and had chemo and all that and her husband died five years ago and now she is all alone and it was good i got to see her, but its terrible her her bladder doesn't work so well any more those Depends things she wears are so expensive you would think the gov would cut the taxes on them. Her eldest daughter is overseas and can't visit her so I do and she doesn't talk to her son, they had an argument about......... and on and on and on and on for 2.5 hours."

I feel like screaming HELP to the FA.

There should be a law against it.

Hopefully if I wear a mask they might refrain from starting up.

Ah 2020 what a year... the year when REX is the only carrier serving drinks.

Yeah, I got a cup of coffee on this morning's Rex flight, try getting a tea or coffee on other airlines at the moment!

I am very much the same. However, I've had some wonderful conversations when randomly I strike/they strike up a conversation with me. maybe it's a vibe thing. I do not do the "woe is me" me convo.

If I am flying solo I don't usually go out of my way to start a conversation but if the person next to me wants a chat i am happy to go along with it.
I do remember one flight when I had a day trip to Melbourne to give a talk to Insurance agents. On the flight back to BNE I sat next to Leigh Matthews.A great fellow and an interesting conversation.I had never followed AFL before so that Day I followed the Lions. When he retired as coach I also began following Hawthorn.

Some expires as soon as it is bottled. ;) :D
Don't think I will see that on the ALH-PER flights...
PS Remind me to not let you pick wine selections for me

Wine may be better when wandering
Fred
PS - not on the airplanes!

The only reason to come back to this year 2020 in a time machine!

I would imagine the capacity will be based on one person per 4 square metres. Also reductions/ banning guests, perhaps also enforce a time limit for access. Eg. No longer than 90 minutes prior to departure. I’d also imagine that WP/ WP1 access after a flight will be suspended.
Might not end up as horrible as I’m thinking, fingers crossed.

probably not allowed to invite anyone with you. SO just you with a WP1 or WP card boarding pass.

Sorry that P Fiona... snip and quote was stuffed up

Asked on twitter and apparently all JQ services have no catering right now. Apparently they are reviewing how to reintroduce limited catering.

It's a bit misleading given they're still selling bundles which include food plus on a JQ flight I'm doing in a couple of weeks they even offered the option to buy a snack.

After putting in a complaint to JQ (via Twitter DM) I’ve finally got this answer:

Hi Justin, to clarify, the no meal service on board is only up until 30 June. We will inform you if there will be any changes with our service. Thanks - Camille
