Flybuys are running a general promotion in Victoria from today until Sunday 9 October.

Spend $100 in one transaction at Coles and get $15 discount on your next shop. The next shop must be by October 23. The $15 comes off as a discount. If you live on the border towns Albury or Lavington you can also participate in the promotion. There are a few exclusions. The promotion is available online as well as in store. There are flyers up in the stores which have the full conditions.

The petrol offer mentioned in the targeted thread is actually a general offer according to the flybuys rep.

From now until 31 December, 2016 flybuys members have a choice when handing over their 4 cent per litre voucher discount voucher and their flybuys card at Coles Express.

Members will be asked whether they want the instant cash discount of 4 cents per litre or instead receive 8 flybuys points per litre purchased. Base flybuys points and any bonus points available at the time will still be paid regardless of the choice made.

If you redeem points for flybuys dollars then you will receive the same monetary value, regardless of whether you choose points or instant discount. It's a matter of which one is more convenient. The conversion rate in this case is 0.5cents per flybuys points.

If you redeem flybuys points for double value rewards or rewards that give you more than 0.5cents per point then you'll be better off taking the points.

If you are converting to Etihad or Velocity points the redemption rate will vary depending on the flights you take and the class you fly. You may be better off in this instance taking the points.

I can't see any notations in the original email as to when the points from this offer will be credited.

You should receive the bonus points for the 8 points per litre promotion by the time you receive standard points for the transaction, that is, usually within 48 hours.

The 8 points per litre promotion, is certainly a winner. Whilst this promotion is on I'll switch back to Coles/shell for fuel purchases until December 31st.

Just filled up at coles with a 4cent voucher. No option was given for points bonus or 4c per litre off. Is the attendant supposed to ask what you would like to do?

I had the same thing happen the other day, I thought it was because the promo hadn't started yet, but when I got home and checked the T&C's it clearly had. I'll have to remember to ask next time if it isn't offered.

Sometimes the bonus points for these types of offers don't post until many weeks later.

Don't worry.Quite reasonable to mention the offer as not all people who read the Flybuys threads read the Giftcards thread (a very interesting thread especially if you have or are considering an Amex Platinum Edge)

just a quick question from a frist time flybuys points redeemer

i purchased a few gift cards recently that had 1000/2000 points cash back, I redeemed them for the $10 off for 2000 poitns, and expected them to come off autoamticlly like woolworths card but they didnt,
I thought it might have been an error since it had only been 30 mins

I bought some more cards later and it still didnt come off, shop person said it doesnt come off gift card purcahses, so i believed it

today I went out and bought something and scanned my card hoping $10 came off, it didnt,
the shop person said I had to scan and then swipe my card, which I didnt know, so it worked,

will the $10 cash backs work on gift card purchases for the future?

It sounds like you actually redeemed flybuys dollars. You use these as a payment method. You put the magnetic strip on the flybuys card through the eftpos machine and enter the pin which was set at the time you redeemed the points. If you can't remember your pin there is a way of going into your account to check what pin you have selected. If you still have the confirmation email from the redemption, there is a link there which takes you to the check pin page.

Using flybuys dollars as a payment method makes it easier to qualify for the next targeted offer while using the benefits from the previous targeted offer.

The staff won't let you pay for Coles gift cards with flybuys dollars. I'm not sure about 3rd party cards. Coles seem to keep changing the rules on these ones.
